We stopped in for breakfast and everything was amazing! The plates were loaded — fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, French toast dusted with powdered sugar, and perfectly browned hash browns. The portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. The atmosphere felt warm and relaxed, and the service was quick even though it was busy. Definitely a great spot to start the morning — we’ll be back!

I love Lafayette so much. The food is great, the menu is huge with a lot of variety, and the staff are so kind and friendly. The prices are perfect, low cost for good quality. The atmosphere is classic, rustic, and old but in a good way. This isn’t where you come for gourmet, this isn’t where you come for a pristine, smooth look. But this is where you come for delicious food however you want and is worth every penny.

This place reminded me of an old school dinner and had the vibe of an old town diner. The food was delicious, and the servers were very friendly.

My mother and I had a lovely breakfast at this sweet little diner. We both got the “belly buster” dish and surely left with our bellies busted (in the best way). Delicious biscuit gravy! Kelsie provided great service and it was clear many of the other patrons were regulars – a very welcoming atmosphere.

As most of the reviews already say, don’t judge this book by its cover. The outside may look dingy, but it’s a comfortable and welcoming—though bustling—atmosphere inside.

Note that the expectation is to seat yourself. There is no sign indicating this, though my confusion was mostly my fault as I didn’t hear the servers telling me this at first.

The servers were both generally very attentive and quick. They even greeted regulars by name.

A lot of these regulars seemed to be more elderly, and some of the food choices were definitely aimed at that audience. Unfortunately, my eggs and pancakes, while prepared well, were heavily under-seasoned. However, table salt, butter, and syrup were provided to make up for this.

Despite the slight blandness of the food, though, it was nice to sit in a diner atmosphere and enjoy breakfast and coffee. I’ll be sure to return again sometime.

There is a reason there are always cars parked up outside the Lafayette – this diner is clearly a hit with the locals because its everything you hope for in a small, southern diner. It’s not much to look at, but the food is plentiful and the service is absolutely wonderful. They don’t make ’em like this anymore. Our server knew many of her customers by name and was exceedingly cheerful. The food is simple and filling. The coffee was hot and my cup was always full. I would have stuck with it until I saw our server come out with a giant Tupperware jug of sweet tea, which she said they brewed on site. Lord have mercy. I’ve been up in New England a long time, and that first hit of real, homemade southern sweet tea made my heart sing. There isn’t anything fancy about the Lafayette -you get paper napkins and plastic cups – but its spotlessly clean, my omelette was delicious, and everyone else enjoyed their pancakes (although my Maine raised son observed they didn’t have real maple syrup – who knew New England kids were maple syrup snobs). So if you are looking for down home cooking and great service, then stop in at the Lafayette. And whatever you order, make sure it comes with home fries, a biscuit, and the sweet tea – so satisfying! 9/10 would visit again!

Lafayette Diner is a great hometown family diner. The staff and patrons are very friendly, each time I have been here everyone says hello. Have always been seated promptly and have attentive service. Meals are served promptly and delicious. The portions are enormous and I regret eating it all every time 🙂 have been back many times and plan to go back regularly.

This place was AWESOME!! I’m from out of state and it’s hard to find a diner with proper bar seating but this place had the cutest one I’ve seen. Also the food was delicious and I barely had to wait. The ladies behind the counter were also helpful enough to point me in the direction of the GOOD thrift stores so I was super happy and I felt very welcomed there! Maybe next time I’ll try the salt fish but I’ll probably just get the amazing pancakes again.

Throwback diner for me. Walked in and i was able sit down. Locals were at the other end chewing the fat as they enjoyed their coffee and breakfast. I ordered two eggs over easy, side a bacon , corned beef hash, some scrapped and how fries with onions. Everything was delicious and the service was warm and friendly.

I was running some errands out of town and found this place to get a bite to eat. The food was to die for! My breakfast bowl came out immediately and was served hot with a warm smile from the waitress. The atmosphere is very comfortable and I plan to come back with the rest of the family so they can enjoy it as much as I did!
