Never left restaurant reviews before but going out of my way for this one. It’s real soul food when you can taste the soul in the food. Amazing smoking brisket and super cheesy Mac and cheese. That house special sauce is to die for. And the black eye peas? Absolutely delicious! We were offered 3-4 samples on top of our meal. The portion is extremely generous and the staff and owner were the sweetest and most hospitable people I’ve ever met in any restaurant. We came for a day trip from Canada and stumbled upon this place but we will definitely return. May God bless this business!

there were no arrows or signs in the parking lot to even tell you where the restaurant is, we had to ask someone because it’s not even visible from the parking lot, it’s all the way in the back, hidden away. When you open the door to the building there is a musty smell, but the area where the tables were to eat inside was clean and the atmosphere was nice. We arrived right at 4:00 p.m. when they opened, we were the only people there, and our food was not ready until 50 minutes later!! My friend had the chicken and he said it was really great. He did not care for the kale slaw. I ordered the brisket burnt ends and the gouda macaroni and cheese topped with ribs. The burnt ends were tender, but not particularly flavorful, just mediocre. The rib meat on top of the macaroni and cheese was decent, it was fairly tender, and the macaroni and cheese itself was fantastic, very cheesy! The cornbread that came with the meal was mediocre. It’s so hard to find amazing barbecue in buffalo, the only thing I would have eaten again from this place was the macaroni and cheese. If you’re looking for great brisket ibbq4u is really flavorful and tender. And if you’re out of the city anywhere towards Dunkirk , angry Bird BBQ has the best burnt ends! We would not come back to this place unfortunately. The girl that worked there was very nice, but nobody wants to wait 50 minutes for their food to come out.

I’m not one to take the time to leave reviews often, if ever, but after my experience today I had to take a moment and share my experience…
We had never been to La Verdad (honestly until yesterday I had never heard of it) but we decided to give it a try today
I am a foodie and have had BBQ/soul food in a dozen states + Canada in my years and this is without a doubt some of the BEST BBQ I have ever had in my life. The ribs were tender and flavorful, in fact they fell off the bone. The Mac & cheese is real deal, creamy and flavorful, no kraft here. Everything is home made and absolutely delicious.
You will wait for your food, the vibe is very much home style/family operation, but that is the only remotely negative thing I could add about my experience
The food is 10/10 and I will 100% be returning ASAP. My biggest regret is that I did not get a dessert to try

This place deserves 5 stars. Hands down nicest place, in staff and food by miles. Super allergy friendy. The best brisket I’ve had NY and east in over 15 years. The flavors are amazing, all the sides are made without the typical crutches and made with real ingredients and amazing spices. Fair prices for the quality. Dog lovers <3

Very nice service! Kind and courteous and explained their menu. I got the Mac and cheese bowl with brisket and banana peppers and the smoked bourbon bbq sauce! Delicious! I will be back! Only tiny downside is trying to find parking, you might have to walk a block or so

Cool spot located inside of a community center. Def a local hidden gem. I’ve heard about it for ages and finally was able to make it over. Delicious bbq, come early if you want to try their ribs. I was able to try their brisket and ox tail. Both tender and delicious. I was not able to eat their sides due to food allergies. The owner is also the chef and she’s friendly and outgoing. She went out of her way to greet us and check in.

Our 1st time visiting LaVerdad Cafe! 1st of all their Gouda Mac n Cheese was Fantastic !!! And I’m really picky about mac n cheese! And the Burnt ends and Brisket both were very good as well! My ONLY complaint was it was Freezing! Because they had the smoker going and had the fan and also had no heat on for the customers out where we sat to eat

If you’ve ever wondered why slow-cooked meat holds a timeless spell, lean in. Oxtails and brisket are twin pillars of depth, richness, and soul-satisfying comfort. Each cut has its own personality, yet both share a forgiving elegance: time plus low heat yields something transcendent. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND. You won’t be let down!
