Wow!! This place was incredible. As often as we pass through Solomons on our boat, we finally stopped for dinner at La Vela. The aroma of Italian food drifted down the stairs of the restaurant. It smelled amazing. We enjoyed dinner on the outside patio overlooking the marina. For starters, we split the bruschetta. Very tasty! I had the chicken parmesan and the pasta was absolutely incredible. Spouse had the penne Santa Lucia and raved about the garlic-lemon-butter sauce. And, they served hot fresh bread before dinner! Everything tasted perfect.

The 5 of us were seated immediately with no reservation, which is a plus. It was the 3rd time for 2, 2nd for 1 of us and the first time for the other 2. We had late lunch. The server was very friendly and welcoming and she made sure we had all that we needed such as ice cold beer glass, freshly ground pepper, brought us white sugar, (our first choice of brown sugar was not available). I love the white tablecloths, heavy cutlery wrapped in blue serviettes and Murano-style water glasses. The food presentation was fabulous. My aperol spritz was perfect. The escargot with mushrooms in Barolo sauce was delicious. The dishes were creamy, well-seasoned and buttery, the pasta al dented as it should be, but the seafood in one dish had an unknown unpleasant flavor (to me it tasted like chlorine which I am assuming is added to seafood to ensure it doesn’t go bad while it is stored) Overall it was a very nice dining experience. We paid 225 (plus the tip) for 3 appetizers, 4 main courses, 2 beers, 1 aperol spritz, 5 desserts and 2 espressos. We will be going back very soon.

Delicious food and great service. We went for a Father’s Day dinner. I got the steak and mushroom risotto and my wife got the bolognese, both were very good. We will be back.

Really relaxing atmosphere, perfect for a date night! I really enjoyed all the dishes we had especially the beef carpaccio. Drinks we on point, and the Limoncello Martini was delicious. Looking forward to trying the cannolis next time!!! Service was excellent too.

Super delicious Italian food.. I had the gnocchi with pesto, one of three types of sauces you can get. Others had the shrimp dish and a marina and cheese bread plate antipasti. Wonderful cocktails too.. I recommend the limoncello martini.

Very disappointing start to dinner when the rolls we were served were toasted rather than warm from baking as if they were re-heated. They had obviously been reused from someone else’s dinner because they had tomato sauce on the bottom. Disgusting.

I really enjoyed my experience at la vela. We sat at the bar and the bartender was kind and attentive. The food was amazing and I especially enjoyed the result of the day which was short rib. My old fashioned looked watered down by the color but I was wrong. It was wonderful, sweet with a bite. The one drink was strong and enough for me to feel it. I will be back and recommend it to others.
