Just ate at The Works tonight and tried this place. The food was authentic Cuban and Puerto Rican as it gets! Guava juice was great and the plantains were moist and delish. Will go back to try more on their menu soon.

Absolutely delicious. The shrimp ajillo mofongo was packed with flavor—so good I swear I could still taste it the next day. Everything was rich, savory, and perfectly done. I’ll definitely be back for more very soon.

We were craving some Latin food for lunch and decided to try this spot, definitely no regrets! The service was excellent, and the chef/owner herself came out to serve us and walk us through the menu, which was a really nice touch. The chicharrones de pollo were packed with Puerto Rican flavor, and the roasted pork was absolutely delicious. Prices are very fair, and since it’s in the food court of a shopping mall, there’s plenty of seating and parking. Highly recommend!

La Tropical is amazing! I had a Medalla to drink, Bacalaitos for an appetizer, and mofongo con Churrasco for my main dish — everything was 10/10. My mom had the mofongo con carne frita. The bacalaitos were incredible. Crispy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned they brought back memories of my childhood trips to the baseball park in Puerto Rico. The food was delicious, full of authentic flavor, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I can’t wait to go back!

I wasn’t expecting it to be “authentic” as I have come to find out that there are no true Puerto Rican restaurants here in the Atlanta area.

Bacalaito was decent but it was a little too flaky for my liking. The Mofongo and Carne Frita were flavorless. The Mofongo was more of a mushy consistency (No chicharron in it either) . The carne absolutely needed sofrito and adobo.

The food was not a true representation of Puertorican food. You would probably have a closer chance of getting flavorful/authentic at a Dominican spot in Lilburn/Norcross area.

The previous times coming to the works food hall, I walked by this place. Something made me stop and we decided to try the Mofongo bowl with steak. The steak was fresh quality steak. I wanted more portion, but I understand charging $27 when the steak was that fresh and quality. Maybe id feel better at $24 or if they added a side of beans. I’ve tried Mofongo at different places and This was the best Mofongo I’ve tasted. The texture was perfect consistency and not dry like I’ve tasted other places. The guy at the register and the chefs were all nice and their kitchen space is very clean. Simple menu That I feel I’d want to try everything on there so I am marking this as a favorite in this food hall along with the empanada place. The Mofongo comes with a butter sauce and a broth to help the texture and flavor. The broth doesn’t have much flavor at all, but it helps soften the Mofongo closer to a mashed potato although the plantains hold their texture. I didn’t need the broth, but the butter sauce was great. Stir it and pour all of it out as the flavor settles to the bottom of the butter sauce. They also have a sweet and spicy sauce That’s great as well. The bowl was so good that I ordered the veggie eggplant bowl that at $16 is a wonderful price. This place is a hit. Authentic!
