A Hidden Gem with Big Heart!
If you are looking for an authentic New York pizza experience, La Traviata Pizzeria is a must-visit. Don’t let the size of the shop fool you—it might be a small local spot, but the service and flavor are absolutely massive.
Here is why this place stands out:
The Food: The pizza is incredible. Fresh ingredients, perfect crust, and exactly what you want from a NY slice.
The Service: Lightning fast! Even when they are busy, you aren’t waiting long for a hot, delicious meal.
The Vibe: They are bilingual (English and Spanish), which makes the environment feel welcoming and inclusive. The staff treated us like family—honestly, it was some of the best service I’ve ever had in the city.
It’s rare to find a place that balances speed, quality, and genuine kindness so well. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by. Highly recommended!
They have a nice slice assortment each day, and plenty of beverages to choose from. Service is quick and kind. They offer delivery and also have some outdoor seating. There’s not too much “indoor”, but the outdoor area is covered so that’s nice. I will be coming back regularly, so glad to have found this gem.
We asked if they could heat up pizza so we could eat there – they said no. Since they wouldn’t allow us to dine in, I asked for an extra bag so my friend and I could split up the slices (1 person take home 1 slice, another person take home 2 slices). The female employee immediately got upset and said NO! Simply over asking for another PAPER bag that probably costs 10 cents?! Unbelievable. As we were leaving, a well-dressed man entered the store. The same female employee who had just berated me greeted him sweetly “Hello Sir.”
My friend later told me that perhaps the employee mistakenly thought I was asking for “another bag of pizza” instead of another PAPER bag. She should have clarified before jumping to conclusions. In my years of living in NYC, this is the only pizza place I’ve been to which puts pizza slices into paper bags (typically 3+ slices go into a box).
Morale of the story: DON’T ASSUME, TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS WITH RESPECT, TREAT THEM EQUALLY. The man who initially helped us was so kind. I feel bad for employees who have to work with this female employee. We won’t return because pizza wasn’t that tasty (FROZEN broccoli) and lady’s customer service left a sour taste in our mouths. It’s also a very small store with only 3 tables and questionable cleanliness.
I casually took them to this place, and they had a difficult time not admitting that this place is the best. Seriously, try it out. You will have the same problem if you already have a favorite because you will realize this is the best Pizza in all of New York. There may be some Brooklyn places, but you have to go all the way to Brooklyn, and this place is still going to be the best.
You can get a tourist slice of pizza for a dollar at Times Square, and if that’s what you want good for you. But this is a real NYC pizzeria.
