Overall everything was good, but I found the marinara sauce a little too sweet for my tastes. The portion sizes were generous, and the complementary breadsticks with the entrees were very good. It would have been better if the Caesar salad was served with romaine lettuce versus iceberg lettuce.

I came here with 2 of my friends to give this little place a try. I’d heard a mixed bag of reviews claiming it was excellent, poor, and everything in between. It’s these types of places you just have to see for yourself.
Upon entry, the hostess/server warned us that she was alone tonight. The dining room was full, so we appreciated the heads-up that she was overwhelmed. To sum up the service, she did a fantastic job. She got all of our orders spot on, was kind, and I can actually say that we probably got everything more quickly than some other fully staffed places.
In terms of atmosphere, it’s cozy and a bit old school. Nothing to write home about, but they have a sweet patio for nicer weather.
The food is what was lacking for me. The highlight of the evening was the calamari, which I didn’t even get a great picture of! It was crisp and the breading was delicious. The sauce paired well with it. I usually like to see lemons with calamari, but it could have just been overlooked with how busy the staff was.
I ordered the chicken piccata because I love everything lemon. Sadly, it was mostly butter and parmesan. The chicken was a bit overdone, so it was chewy. The dish wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great. It was just okay.
No one really talked about their food being fantastic, which will always come up with this crew if it is.
So really, the calamari and the server are the reason this place gets 4 stars instead of 3. It was really just okay for me. Nothing I’d avoid if someone wanted to go, but nothing I’d seek out on my own. It’s a great addition for the area, though, and I dig what Smyrna has done with the little downtown area.

The food was excellent; very fresh and hot. The service was fabulous; quick, polite, and checked on is the appropriate amount of times. The restaurant was clean and the only reason I have it 4 stars instead of 5, is because it is very simple and casual. I wanted to be sure people knew it wasn’t an upscale dining interior (but it’s cute and clean, we were pleased). Also, there were a lot of take out orders picked up while we were there. Clearly, it’s a popular place.

Delicious local Italian restaurant in Smyrna! On the old historic downtown Main Street ! It lovely old building. Food smells amazing as you approach the building. Large menu. Everything around us looked & smelled yummy! The homemade bread sticks covered in butter & parmigiana were out of this world delicious! Salads were very fresh of course as they should be. Our entrees were great. Huge servings. We left with to go boxes for another meal. Visit soon! We will be back soon. Their service was great even though they were short staffed as everyone is now. Live music is performed every other Tuesday. The performance was very nice.

The food is really good portions but the chicken was very dry and I wasn’t crazy about the Marsala sauce. Bread was really great and everything was fresh but the taste just wasn’t there, just mediocre. Seats are also tattered and you sink in them. Wouldn’t go back.

Meatballs and ceaser salad was delicious. Bread was great and I was slightly disappointed in the chicken parm. Chicken tasted like a frozen patty.. but I would definitely go back and try more items.

Great authentic Italian cuisine… The food was too delicious. I couldn’t put my fork down. It’s definitely a must if you’re visiting Nashville. The house salad with the Ceasar dressing was very delicious.

Today 4/21/22 . It would have been a 5 star if they had fresh Parmesan cheese, ( as I was told they had ) extra bread at your table is up charge of $2.00 and If the staff hadn’t put my dressing on my salad . The salad was very fresh and didn’t need all that to cover it up. I would have liked to took half the salad home but with the dressing on the salad I couldn’t . My pasta was ok and at home with fresh Parmesan it will be good . The pasta only had a small amt of chicken , I also ordered a side of grilled shrimp. This would have been the best part of my meal. Well , with the bread sticks . Next time I’ll just get grilled shrimp, breadsticks and salad . Dressing on the side .

The food was really good. I had the meat ravioli with Marina sauce. The meat and sauce were delicious but the pasta was slightly undercooked. My wife got the seafood fettuccine Alfredo, which was cooked perfectly. The bread was amazing as well. The house salads were good. Mine had some lettuce that was wilted but everything else was good. Overall I would give the food four stars.
They were a little slow in service and food delivery tonight, but with the people shortages, that’s understandable so I didn’t take any stars off for that. Our waiter was bustling and doing the best he could. Four stars for that too, overall.
I took one more star off because of the cleanliness of the restaurant. The table cloths appeared to be old, dingy, and stained. They use white paper on the tables on top of the table cloths so you don’t have to eat on them. I went to the men’s room to wash up and there were no paper towels. I’m not sure what was going on with the floor, but the side where the toilet is looked like the tile was cut too short to fit, or that the baseboards were removed and left it exposed underneath. It was wet in there and probably where some of the smells were coming from. The floors could use a really good deep cleaning as well.
There were flies flying around in the dining room. I saw one crawling over the top of a salt shaker and we kept shooing them away from our food. There is a bug zapper in there somewhere and we heard it zap a couple of times. Not the most pleasant thing to hear while eating but I guess it beats them flying around everywhere.
Overall it feels a bit run down but with the food and service being so good, we will be back again to try some other items. That bread is to die for!

Visited La Tavola Ristorante Italiano the other day…a sweet little gem in Smyrna. I was greeted by Patrick who got me to a table and my waitress Kaylin took my drink order while I looked over the menu. They have a good wine and beer selection here and based on the size of the meals served I decided against an appetizer. I went with the La Tavola specialty pasta, a combination of grilled shrimp, chicken, and ground beef with Penne pasta in a Cajun Alfredo Sauce. The salad that comes with the meal was very fresh and the veggies crisp. For those who love garlic breadsticks…the ones served with dinner were excellent and you could easily just fill up on the bread. The pasta dish…HUGE and I could have easily shared it. The pasta was Al Dente and the sauce had some “kick” to it but not too spicy. The sauce with the shrimp, chicken, and beef was a good match and there was plenty to last most of the dish. A really good meal at a reasonable price and the service from Kaylin was excellent. Looking forward to trying some of their other dishes.
Interesting side note…it actually adds to the appeal of this spot to be serenaded by the trains as they pass the front of the restaurant.
