We got seated really quick at 6:30pm with no wait at all. At that time there was a big party, and about another 6-8 families. With wings at 75¢ each, I was expecting it to be busy. Service was very prompt with our order and appetizer. I was expecting the raw fries portion to be larger (check picture). Placed our order was successful, waitress got all the details. The restaurant has many tv’s throughout. Tea got a little low but not out. Food got there, the wings wasn’t like dripping with sauce. The flounder my wife ordered, 4 of smallest flounder I’ve ever seen. She said they were good, (verified with picture). Daughters meal was good she said they were fries wasn’t popping hot. The wings were hot went arrived to the table, not sure if the bbq hot was even bbq hot, no heat, and not really bbq’y either. Had nice taste, just not what I ordered. The second set of 5 was honey mustard, and the sauce was off, tastied sour. Took a few minutes for waitress to check on us, I brought to her attention, she had 5 additional sauced in a teriyaki hot. Overall wasn’t completely satisfied, but am willing to give them another shot.
LA Sports Bar & Grill offers a typical sports bar menu with burgers, wings, and appetizers, but our recent visit left us with mixed feelings. I opted for the “S.C. Chopped Cheese with Hot Cheetos,” a creative take on the classic. While the concept was intriguing, the execution fell short. My wife chose the Carolina Burger. Unfortunately for mine , it arrived greasy, and the brioche bun, while trendy, felt completely out of place and unnecessary for this type of sandwich. It detracted from the overall experience rather than enhancing it.
We also shared an order of jalapeno poppers. These tasted suspiciously like they came straight from a frozen box, reminiscent of something you’d find at a fast-food chain. They lacked any real flavor or freshness. The accompanying fries, also seemingly frozen, were served in a generous portion, but didn’t offer anything special.
While we didn’t sample other items on the menu, our experience with these dishes was disappointing. The creative concept of the chopped cheese was let down by the overall quality, and the burger, a staple of any sports bar, missed the mark. The poppers and fries only reinforced the impression of pre-prepared, standard fare. The pricing is about what you would expect for this type of food. If you’re looking for elevated bar food, this might not be the spot. However, if you’re just looking for a casual place to watch a game and grab some basic, familiar food, LA Sports Bar & Grill might suffice. Just be aware that the quality may be inconsistent.
