I ordered takeout of Firecracker Calamari as well as a pizza pie on New Year’s Day totaling $36, and it was DISGUSTING! This version of calamari is advertised as fried calamari mixed with fried hot peppers. Instead, I received fried calamari, drenched with vinegar and mixed vegetables. By the time I got home, my food was soggy, and the calamari was not tender, very rubbery and overcooked. Whoever the chef is for this restaurant clearly is not authentically Italian. I spoke to a manager about the situation and all he recommended was a credit of eight dollars towards my next purchase in store. The calamari was priced at $18. He refused to give me a refund. I find it diabolical for him to think that I will want to eat there again after the horrible experience. I will take that loss, but at least I can bring an highlighted awareness for a future of people that may be interested in this restaurant . La Sicilia should shut down. The food , service and the respect is way below minimum average. Other local authentic Italian restaurants with great food exist around Belleville, New Jersey. Unfortunately La Sicilia is NOT one of them.

Went here last weekend because we were in the area and we were blown away with the food and service. We ordered calamari and pasta dishes. Everything was so fresh and tasted AMAZING! Even the bread was fresh and hot. This is the real deal Italian food with a real deal chef. We can’t wait to come back to this gem. Overall 5 stars for everything.

It was ~40+ years ago that I was last at LA Sicilia when I lived on Washington Avenue with my 1st Wife. The food was excellent, the Waitstaff was courteous & cheerful, and the Prices were reasonable. Almost half a Century later… the Staff is all new, but nothing g about this place has changed a bit! My Vegetarian Wife loved the Fried Zucchini Appetizer & her Stuffed Manicotti with Marinara Gravy. I loved the Long Hots Appetizer & Sliced Sausage with Peppers & Onions Hot Sub! Our Waitresses, Marbella & Jamie were cute, sweet & very attentive to our Table… and were rewarded appropriately. Worth a stop after a beautiful stroll though the Cherry Blossoms in Branch Brook Park or taking care of business in North Jersey.

Wonderful restaurant. Absolutely excellent service, always warm delicious bread to start, charming interior. I love the pasta and marinara sauce, any chicken dishes, and they have stuffed artichoke which is very rare and hard to find. 🙂

Asked for a slice with sausage and got shreads. Are you really struggling that you have to charge full price for dry pizza with shreads. Wth.

A cute little pizza place with a back dining area that feels like a romantic Italian restaurant straight out of a Billy Joel song. It’s BYOB, the food is fresh and made to perfection, and the whole atmosphere is just a great little spot to enjoy a meal.

The reason this place is missing two stars is clearly because of the terrible service I received for my Christmas party. The three stars are for the food which saved this review. Our food was good!Nothing was wrong with it and if you like Italian food and like BYOB for something small I’m sure it’s ok but don’t plan a party, for a large group and expect to be treated well. Unless there was something personal about me I can’t tell you that for sure. From the first walking in our waitress was snippy with me ignored some of my questions and give dirty looks to some of my guests. On top of that when I made this reservation over a month ago I told the person on the phone I was bringing a cake , they said no problem, I was told when I brought them the cake today it would be a dollar fifty per person to serve the cake, I said well let me just have the cake myself I will serve it myself. They told me this was not allowed and I had to pay the dollar 50 a person to eat my cake I purchased. Unless we all purchased ample amount of desserts from their own menu and then the cake would be served for free.I have never heard this anywhere in my entire life I get the idea of it but we had a group of nine people and dropped over $220 not to mention I was told nothing about this on the phone. I have been a Google guide for over 2 years now and give honest reviews I will not stop here. So to sum this up if you’re looking for a quick bite and want something not that bad that taste somewhat homemade yes the food is good, but the service today with a group of people was very very poor until I spoke to the manager ,yet the dirty looks from the waitress didn’t stop until the end …. And I am a very nice person and try to be friendly to everyone and that is exactly what I did when I walked in I was friendly. so just be advised if you decide to dine here don’t bring your own cake if it’s your birthday unless you feel like paying the dollar fifty to have to put on a plate. the funny thing is is this particular group of people and myself deal with customer service all day and we wanted to just sit down and enjoy ourselves and be served and we had to fell uncomfortable until management was spoken to. The manager was very nice and I must say thank you to him for understanding the situation, understanding the phone call about the cake was not mentioned to me and understanding that his server was being rude so thank you to you the manager of La Sicilia. Everyone will have their own individual experience, I am just reviewing mine as honest as it was. Wish I could have givin this a 5 star review….

La Sicilia is dead to me. I decided to get a few slices to take home. I ordered 3 plain cheese. The pizza was thinner than the paper plate. You must really skimp on the dough, cheese and sauce for the pizza to be transparent. See the following picture.
