We were on a long motorcycle ride on our way back to Houston , we went through a torrential rain storm, got there soaked and the staff welcomed us with warm coffee and fantastic attitude. Despite leaving a big water mess from our clothing, the waitress and the manager were grateful and happy that we were there. Quite frankly felt like home. Food was excellent, Thanks everyone, made our day !!!

While traveling from Houston we stopped to grab breakfast. Everything from homemade tortillas to very fresh coffee. Good was delicious and authentic. We will be adding this to our list when in the area.

That Carne Asada was out of this world! The staff was polite and courteous. The price-to-portion ratio is amazing! EVERYTHING is homemade! A must stop if you’re traveling through! Try the Texas Plate or for breakfast the Taco Loco.

We stopped by in our way back from Corpus Christie. You have to look for a seat which is kind of weird especially if you’re not familiar with the area and the restaurant. The place needs some TLC the air vents were so strong blowing in your face. Food was OK nothing special. According to the boy next to us who visited their facilities, “Mom their bathroom is so weird there’s pee all over the floor.” His own words. Their chips basket was a mix of greasy flour tortillas and thick corn tortillas.

Good food and great service. A nice surprise on our way through Refugio! We were hungry and decided to stop here. It was a nice clean place and the staff was friendly. We would highly recommend for a good meal.

Now this is real Mexican/Texas Mexican food like what I ate growing up. It’s always these small town restaurants that have the best version of Texas Mexican food. Nothing fancy. No made up, watered down or remixed versions of good old Tejano food.
It was breakfast time and I was traveling through, so it was a blessing to be the first customer early in the morning. I ordered the carne guisada with two eggs over easy, potatoes and refried beans with flour tortillas. This is how I know whoever is cooking grew up in Texas or learned how to cook from a Tejano. The carne guisada tasted like my mom or grandmother made it. I went to town on it and before you knew it, I was cleaning the plate with my last piece of tortilla, just like I would at home. Not to mention the salsa verde was hot!
The coffee kept coming and the waitress didn’t let my cup dip beneath halfway.
The restaurant was quiet when I entered but soon was packed with the hustle and bustle of peopl getting their morning started with a hearty breakfast.
If you are ever in Refugio, TX and craving a hot, hearty Mexican breakfast the Tejano way, you can’t go wrong coming to La Ribera!
P.S. They are Dallas Cowboys fans, so you already know!!! How bout them Cowboys!!!

We came here as we were coming through town for lunch, and it definitely didn’t disappoint! We ordered nachos for an appetizer, and it came out hott! Plenty of cheese and meat. We also ordered a fajita quesadilla, enchilada plate and asada street tacos. Everything was tasty and the food came quick. The service was fast and professional. They had delicious limonda and sweet tea. We will return. Only thing is it just has a single stall for the restroom but not really an issue for us.

I had the Migas for breakfast. It was good, although a bit dry, I will still enjoyed. The potatoes and beans were cooked well and tasted as one would expect. The service was friendly and prompt.

Our family of 5 stopped here for breakfast on the trip out of Port A, on a Sunday morning around 9:30am. We were blown away by the quality of the food, the selection, the TORTILLAS, everything was clearly made in-house and to top it off – the 5 of us were able to eat full meals each with horchatas for under $62. We saved this spot to make sure we stop every time we come to Port A.

I was really surprised by the presentation and flavor of the broiled seafood platter I ordered. Taste was on point. I did not expect something this good hidden in a menu with what looked like basic text mex food from other reviews. I will definitely come back.
