Went for dinner this evening and was reminded what a great little gem this place is. The staff never let our drinks get empty, made sure our chips were full and always are the most generous and kind folks. I ordered a burrito and the portions were great, and it was filling and delicious. Their salsa is smooth and mild so while it’s flavorful there isn’t a ton of spice and it’s not heavy on the cilantro. I’d highly recommend for a solid, easy, pleasant night out.

So I went there about 2 weeks ago and ordered enchiladas my meat was raw, and not only was my meat raw they acted so rudely. But last night I gave them the benefit of the doubt and ordered just cheese dip to go, I get home and taste my cheese and it tastes like mold, I threw up and called the restaurant they proceeded to tell me that the cheese they gave me wasn’t fresh, and said I can come back and get fresh cheese, I just cut my losses and will NEVER go back there

⭐ 1 out of 5 — I’ve had hospital food with more dignity
La Ribera in Washington, NC really taught me something: rock bottom has a basement.
My son ordered a cheeseburger and fries. What hit the table looked like it was rescued from a dishwasher mid-cycle. The bun was WET. Not moist. Not soft. WET. Dripping. You could squeeze the thing like a stress ball and water would come out. I genuinely wondered if the kitchen has a hose they just spray the food down with before serving.
The fries?
Listen. Those weren’t “restaurant fries.”
Those were Piggly Wiggly frozen crinkle-cuts that got baked? microwaved? prayed over? Who knows. They came out looking like they had been cooked by someone who gave up halfway through the instructions. Limp. Pale. Depressed.
The salsa tasted like someone whispered “tomato” over a bowl of water. Absolutely no flavor. It was basically flavored condensation.
The enchiladas? I’ve had frozen dinners that tasted more alive. These things had the same texture and seasoning level as a rolled-up paper towel. Zero flavor. No spice. No salt. No effort. They tasted like they were made by someone who has beef with food in general.
And then — THEN — they had the audacity to charge real human money for this. Not cheap “we know this is bad” prices. No. Full-on bold, confident, “we think we’re good” prices.
By the time I left, I felt emotionally and financially robbed. I didn’t need a to-go box. I needed closure.
Bottom line:
If you enjoy damp bread, cafeteria-level sides, and entrées that taste like they were cooked during a blackout, La Ribera is your Disneyland.
Everyone else: go literally anywhere else. Eat a granola bar. Lick a saltine. It’ll be a five-star upgrade.

Service is great, very nice, clean. Steak is a little tough if you have that in the food your order. They don’t give you that many shrimp… The price due to the inflation unstable but don’t limit the amount of the steak and shrimp should be an even amount of all the food your order.

I’ve been passing this place for months and always busy. Finally gave it a try. I was not impressed. Bathroom clean but very out dated, Sub par quality food, severely lacking seasoning and flavor, fries were over cooked no salt. Staff was great and attentive checking on us multiple times which was a definite plus
