The food was great, I’m originally from El Salvador and I can guarantee that this is the closest match when it comes to flavor and environment.
Yaneth was our server for me and my family, she is doing a great job, super kind and helpful, and I hope I can come back and enjoy this food one more time.
Pupusas are great, nuegados, yuca con chicharrón as well, and prices are not crazy high at all.
If you are around Northern Virginia.
You MUST come and try this amazing place!
My Favorite Salvadorean spot from now on! ❤️
I had been going to Los Toltecos down the street, and it was hard passing up their outdoor deck on a beautiful day… But pupusas were on my mind.
I walked in and wasn’t greeted with fanfare or a kings welcome or anything, just a casual go on in and have a seat. I got a menu and started my order.
Now this was Sunday at Lunch so not too busy. I imagine if they get packed (like any restaurant) the cracks might start to show, but here, great.
I got 5 pupusas and they were delish. One was jalapeno and you could taste the freshness. I mean, wow, garden fresh ingredients in a pupusas. Nice! I also got others, and they were great too.
Along with that, Horchata which might need one more pass through a filter, but still pretty good. Also included was a giant jug of salsa. I was hoping for more flavor. Maybe I needed to shake it more? It tasted like a really good tomato gazpacho, so not sure what to do with that (but it too was fresh).
Now let’s talk about the hidden winner. Ever go to a Korean place and they give you free kimchi and it’s one of the best things on the table? Check out that yellow jar of…? Cabbage and carrots? Wow, was it good. I’m not a typical slaw kind of guy. But this hit the right spot, not too sweet, tangy, salty or sour. Just the right mix of flavors.. and still super crunchy.
So yeah, I’ll be going back there to give their lomos saltado and other dishes a try.
Tasty place!
Oh, and as for service, they didn’t make fun of my 10th grade high school Spanish, so I was happy about that. Or maybe they did and I just didn’t understand 😉
The service was poor as well, and the restaurant looks unclean, I don’t think is a good idea to have a carpet in a restaurant if you don’t want to take good care of it, sorry but I got to be honest, definitely not going back
