Been knowing about this place since I was a literal child. One of the oldest pupuserias in Houston and one of, if not the best!!! Food is absolutely delicious. A must try neat hole in the wall place.

Service was great! Food is made to order. So is hot and good. Our waiter was very polite and attentive. Food was great!

They need to remodel and have nicer people! Their prices are for a restaurant in downtown, not a place falling apart. They ladies have an attitude, not very welcoming. Just find another place. Not worth the time or money spent here, plus the parking is a junkyard! Holes everywhere! I don’t think they have a license to sell food. You are basically gambling with your health here. I’m sure there are better places than this.

Well this dish wasn’t that bad but about, the authentic salvadorean food I don’t think so the only good thing about this place is the pupusas the attention, well bad the waiter take long time for asking if we need something I don’t really recommend

This little hole in the wall had delicious, made to order food! I had a cheese pupusa and a bean and chicharon pupusa… they were freshly made, not greasy and a good size. There was 1 waiter, and he was very attentive! We will absolutely be going back to this little gem!

Review from A Friend (READ THIS!): THE PUPUSAS ARE AMAZING! I definitely recommend going here for pupusas only honestly. Also the Hot chocolate it’s really good especially if it’s cold. This place is definitely those places that are hidden gems to find, but totally worth it…reminds me of the authentic restaurants whenever I go to my home country. Also the owner is very nice!

Wonderful food, I’ve tried almost all of the entries, and they’re all good. The pupusas and the tamales are the best.
I’ve never had any real problems with the service, but sometimes they are short handed on waitstaff, and then it slows down a bit, but for me and my family, the wait is worth it.
We’ve been eating there for a quarter of a century! Wow.

The pupusas were good. I got a corn tamale and tasted like it had been made a long time ago and looked bad, when I asked the waitress how long ago were they made she said she didn’t deal with the kitchen so she didn’t know. The service was also not good, not friendly at all.

My family and I have been coming to La Pupusa Alegre since I was a child. I’m in my 30’s now so we keep coming back simply for the Great! Food. The pupusa are amazing! The place is small and old but once you eat the pupusas here you forget where you are. Always good service. You should really try this place.

By far the best pupusas I’ve eaten anywhere. Just be sure you ask them for extra stuffing of your choice, otherwise they will scrimp & leave you with mostly masa. Service is slow so order ahead unless you don’t mind waiting a good while for your food.
