Aa you might know, I’m from El Paso, TX, the #1 Mexican food capital of the United States. I know menudo is prepared different in different states. That’s fine, but of course, I can’t be impartial because the way it’s prepared here is not the way we’re used to. We have a steaming hot red chile broth with bite size menudo meat with hominy served with buttered pan blanco (or bolillos) as some people call them. Some like limes, orégano and onions. I tried the menudo here at the swap meet in Portland, and it hurts me to say that they do not know how to enjoy this dish. I ordered a bowl here, it was lukewarm at best in watery red chile sauce. The worst part, NO HOMINY! The menudo pieces were not cut to bite size, they were large. No bread. Just lukwarm tortillas. This is the second time I tried menudo in Portland. Oregon. Same result. There are a lot of Hispanics here, didn’t they bring the recipe with them? I’ve eaten at a few Mexican
restaurants and they’re ok, but the Menudo dish needs a vast improvement. I don’t recommend the menudo at the flea market.

This place is wild: dense, cluttered, chaotic. A bit of a warren. Not nearly as “nice” (meaning well-stocked, clean and varied) as the Oregon Flea Market on 183rd and Stark, just 10 blocks away to the west…but they DO have a bar with a dance floor and karaoke, so…your mileage may vary. Dig deep enough into the cracks and crevices though, and you might come away with something worth your time.

Nice Flea Market for you to stop by to go And grab a few quick things at decent prices like phone cases, jewelry, candies, and a few other goods! On the weekends they have live Mexican bands at night for other’s to enjoy and get pretty packed those days!

Worst menu’ at a bar / restaurant / shopping center.
Don’t ever order : shrimp salad , it tasted like cat food or raw fish . Fish was so strong I didn’t touch anything. Some tacos are okay beef. About it.
The bar tender rip me off my mixed drink was basically juice no alcohol whatsoever it’s what we pay for we should get. Gets really hot inside no air conditioning. Restroom are far in back so unsafe and dirty, lucky if they clean it twice in a day. Sometimes no hand soap . To many fights at bar / dance floor. To packed to many people sometimes. Overall I wouldn’t recommend a place for a late night bite to eat with a drink or dance. Parking is to small you have to walk far to entrance door. They need to do better at checking ID for minor drinking. Needs major update to place.

If you’re looking for a classic flea market with a garage sale selection, this is definitely NOT your place. Seriously, don’t waste your time.
99.9% of the vendors are selling brand new packaged items imported from Mexico. Lots of bootleg dollar store quality toys ETC… On a positive note there’s some good food vendors there.

Always fun to go look around. Never know when I’ll find something unique to buy. My son loves to stop there for his cup of cucumber & mango with salt & lime! My husband likes to buy fresh made lemonade!

This is an amazing establishment with tons of blankets, cheap electronics, jewelry and perfumes typical of a Hispanic flea market. Beware of the pozole sold at the restaurant tho because I found a roach in mine.. the waitresses promptly replaced my dish for free and offered free drinks so that was nice at least.
