Perfect place for special occasion and experiential dining. We started with cocktails – Coconut Vacation and an Old Fashioned. Both were excellent! Had the crab cakes as an appetizer and really enjoyed them. I had the scallops and husband had the Beef Wellington. We recommend both! Dinner was finished with a deliciously rich chocolate dessert.

Underwhelmed.
This place was listed as a fine dining experience. Chose it for our anniversary dinner. I made reservations and still waited 20 minutes. (The place was half full inside at best.) Our waitress was nice but had way too many tables. (Or was too busy some other way.) Our drinks took at least 15 minutes each time we ordered. (I wish I’d have timed it, I do believe it was longer.) We didn’t have desert and were at the restaurant for just under 2 hours… the waitress made suggestions which were nice but overwhelming. The portions were filling but the calamari sticks look like they came out of a Gordon’s fisherman box. (Check the picture) I don’t think I’d ever go back the price and distance for me were not worth the food and experience. Also the walls need to be cleaned…

Our first time here. The restaurant itself is beautiful, but as soon as we walked in; Diana (hostess) wasn’t very welcoming at all. Her demeanor seemed very pissy… Our booth was small and being next to a wall felt very cramped. On a good note we got water & bread right away which was very nice and our server Eric was friendly which helped a lot solving the unfriendliness of Diana. Food took a bit to get, but it’s fine just means it’s fresh. The taste on the potatoes were delicious, but not so much on either of our meats; they were just ok. Manager Paul was also very friendly. It was also nice they had a kids menu.

Service was good but not great, no wine poors, waters were near empty. Butter and bread is served with a plastic cup for the butter. I thought that was odd. Bread was refilled quickly though. Fondue appetizer wasn’t our favorite. OK, but not what we were expecting. Desserts were the highlight. Tart was supposed to be apple, but berry was very good. Carmel Gelato was very good. Entrees, I think we just ordered the wrong things. Beef wellington was a little too much pastry, but that’s probably on us. Cuq au van was great chicken, but probably would pick something else. I never order chicken so not sure why I did. Lamb was a little overcooked, nothing special. The petite steak was the best by far.
Overall this is great atmosphere and might have just been understaffed the night we were in. Would recommend despite some of the misses.

We were very disappointed with the Christmas Eve dinner at La Provence Restaurant. If I could give them zero stars, I most certainly would. The restaurant was less than half full when we arrived AND when we left. This made us wonder why there was a $70 hold per person on our credit card when we made the reservation. (we were informed of this when making the reservation) Five small slices of bread for 4 people came out on a coffee cup saucer and a small amount of butter came in a plastic cup. (We never got any more bread even after requesting it) Our drinks came slow and we were never asked if we wanted a refill or additional drinks. The fixed menu was an unknown surprise, but understandable. Our server said he was not aware of the dinner being a fixed menu either and he had no input on the items listed, nor did he know how to pronounce the items. The servers who brought the food out were not aware of who had what and handed the wrong plates to the wrong people all three times. (Starters – Entrees – Desserts) The food was barely decent. The desserts were very bland looking and tasted just OK. The very poor service did not warrant the automatically added 20% gratuity for four people. Not a place we would revisit on any day, nor would we recommend La Provence to any of our friends or neighbors here in Roseville.

Such a cozy, romantic place with outstanding service and excellent food. We ventured out of our comfort zones and tried different and unusual things and though some things were surprisingly good (like frog legs, which very delightful), others were good enough to try once just to say you did it (escargot – not much to it really). Beef Wellington was great, but the best thing of all was their gnocchi with wild mushrooms and truffles – delicious light little pillows of goodness. Deserts were awesome, especially their profiteroles and gateau au chocolat.
The big fireplace added to the glamor of candle lights and crystal glasses that sparkled over bright crispy tablecloths.
We had a delightful evening and will definitely go back.

Had our anniversary dinner here back in September and loved it so much we came back for my fiancé s birthday dinner. Short ribs melt in your mouth and paired with their garlic mashed potatoes you can’t go wrong. Fiancé had rack of lamb this time and loved it. Looking for a non dairy dessert? Mango sorbet all the way!

La Provence is our holiday choice for dining on many occasions.
French and American choices.
Delicious food and friendly professional service
Not open Sunday’s except for holidays when brunch and buffet is available.
I recommend menu items rather than buffet options as the food gets cold and not as good as when plated fresh.
You can find discount cards at Costco for 20% off which we used today for Father’s Day.
Indoor or outdoor seating with a fireplace inside.
Reservations needed for holiday visits but otherwise usually able to be seated without reservation.
Nice setting for large family get together or for a couple wanting an exceptional dining experience.

While one of the spendiest restaurants in town the food was amazing and the place was not stuffy. Staff and atmosphere was welcoming to kids. Beautiful setting. They even have a couple days a month where dogs are encouraged to come. Our waitress was a saint and was very kind to us when we had trouble reading the check.

This is actually one of our favorite unique and memorable restaurants. We have celebrated several special occasions here and it also makes a great place just to stop in and have a couple of cocktails on date night. They have a delicious bar menu that is reasonably priced. Very rustic and unique atmosphere. We had great service, the food was perfectly cooked, and our cocktails were delicious.
