Short story, some of the best tacos i have had in the state. Their cárnitas are the best i have had in living memory. Their tortillas are so legit. Barbacoa was succulent and savory. Every bite, packs a punch. This is hands down, my favorite spot for food in the valley. Support these local champions

We got the birria on a Sunday (they have this on the weekends) and it was excellent, but there is some fatty meat in there. It is $16, so more expensive than most other items on the menu.
The tacos are $3.99 each. We got carnitas, chorizo, barbacoa, and steak. They are served with cilantro and onion, and are served in house-made corn tortillas.
The grocery element of this place is great—an amazing hot sauce selection, cool Mexican ice creams and drinks, a bevy of Mexican snacks, even tortilla presses and some Mexican pottery.
There are some groceries as well—a small selection of peppers and plantains, and papayas.
Highly recommend checking out this place, and to practice your Spanish!! I know I need to practice mine.

The best taqueria place here in Carbondale, as a Latino, I can say these are really authentic, you can tell the tortillas are freshly made everyday they have the great options when it comes to tacos, Very Juicy, a good balance of zesty-ness and flavor. I recommend to eat-in then take out!

I was so excited to see a real taqueria coming to town in this space, and I was so happy to go in and try it for the first time the other day. The food is excellent! Extremely well made and you can tell there is a lot of care that is taken in making good traditional tacos which I really felt we needed. The groceries for sale are also fantastic and it is a great place to stock up on good food as well. I have now been twice and each time it is a kind and welcoming place to go. It almost feels like you’re part of the family there and it really is shining as a great gem to our “local food scene”. I had both chicken and steak tacos and both were incredibly excellent. I am so thankful for the folks at La Placita for opening their doors and providing such a wonderful place to have a very good homemade tasting meal. I will 100% be supporting them as much as I can and I ask that everyone else in town show them some love too, its going to be a local institution before we know it.

WOW!!! I had heard about the food here. I finally came in to eat. I had Quesabirrias tacos, Chicken tacos and a papusa. If you are looking for amazing food; you don’t have to go any further. Incredible doesn’t even come close to discribing it… the best Mexican food I’ve had; and I travel to Mexico multiple times a year; and I don’t do resorts. I go into the communities; this is the real deal. Go get some authentic delicious food.
