When it comes to Mexican food in the Lehigh Valley, this spot is about as authentic as it gets. I went with a friend who loves Mexican cuisine, and I knew she’d appreciate the traditional flavors here.
We both started with the chicken enchiladas. The soft flour tortillas were filled with chicken, melted cheese, and refried beans, and then topped with lettuce, a flavorful guajillo sauce, and Mexican cheese and cream, all served alongside a classic side of rice and beans.
After the enchiladas, we shared the birria tacos. The double-layered corn tortillas were perfectly crisp and filled with tender barbacoa and melted mozzarella, served with fresh cilantro, diced onion, lime, and a rich consommé.
I haven’t had Mexican food this good in quite a while, and La Perla Tapatia really delivered. I also have to mention Mariana, who is one of the nicest and most genuine people you’ll ever meet and someone who elevates the entire experience.
The food prices are friendly, and today, I ordered Birria Tacos—absolutely delicious! Our server, Yazzy, took great care of us. Every time she finished a sentence, she would add a little laugh, which totally made my day!
The Horchata was perfectly balanced, with a wonderful aroma of cinnamon dusted on top, cutting through the richness of the BBQ tacos. The cheese was beautifully melted, and the finely chopped onions, cilantro, and fresh lime added the perfect touch. The sauce wasn’t quite my favorite, but everything else was spot on.
Yazzy even taught me how to eat the tacos the authentic Mexican way, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
If you’re craving Mexican food with a warm and friendly vibe, this is the place to be!
It is a family owned restaurant with a casual but warm atmosphere. Owner, Mariana, her hubby and their staff are super friendly.
We have been customers for years. We are on a first name basis and it seems that they have that with all their loyal customers.
Definitely recommend it!
The best part of meal was the owner. She absolutely loved what she was doing. You could hear the passion and the dedication in her voice. She was truly proud of what she was doing.
The decor was very simple but fun. The colors were vibrant and tasteful. Ambiance works for any occasion, from couples on a date to family enjoying dinner together, or a single just wanting some delicious food.
We went during the COVID times of 2020 (for future readers), so masks were required but obviously take off when eating. Limited seating indoors and outdoors so reservations are highly recommended but not required.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Will definitely be back to try more of this delicious food.
We got chips and guac, chips fried in house and the guacamole was delicious! He got chicken tacos and I got birria- both were so flavorful and! Incredible food, a true local favorite.
Miss Marianna is the sweetest too… always welcoming and very pleasant to be around!
