We found La Pentolaccia through Google Reviews while on holiday in Catania, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of our trip.

We ordered the Pasta alla Norma and a pasta with pistachio sauce — both were an absolute joy to eat. The Norma was everything a Sicilian classic should be, and the pistachio pasta was something special. Perfectly al dente, generous portions, and full of flavor from start to finish.

The atmosphere of the place is wonderful — warm, inviting, and exactly what you’d hope for in a Sicilian trattoria. The service matched it perfectly: attentive, friendly, and our order came out quickly without any of the long waits we’ve encountered elsewhere.

We will absolutely be coming back and can’t recommend this place highly enough to anyone visiting Catania. So grateful places like this exist.

We had our favorite meal in all of Italy here and we cannot wait to go again for dinner tonight!

The service was pleasant and welcoming from the second we walked in and somehow the food got better with every course!

We started with the small antipasto sampler, then moved to the Veal Steak, Horse meatball (yes, really), and the Carrettiiera. I’m honestly not sure what we liked best! We used the fresh Italian bread to lick the plates clean.

Then, we somehow made room for the delicious house specialty dessert of the almond cake and a chocolate pastry.

Wow! All of it was spectacular!

Very friendly waiters, great traditional Italian food. Seafood especially good. Good value, both food & wine. We visited last year too, & it was just as good this time.
A short walk from Via Etnaea and the main piazzas, very close to the lovely Romano House Hotel where we stayed.

We had a wonderful dining experience at La Pentolaccia. We sat on the back terrace, which had a cozy and relaxed atmosphere — perfect for enjoying a good meal. I tried the seafood pasta and the pistachio pasta, which was a new and surprisingly delicious discovery for me. Both dishes were excellent, full of flavor and perfectly cooked.

The service was outstanding — attentive without being intrusive — and I really appreciated how involved and professional the head waiter was, making sure everything ran smoothly. The house wine was also superb and complemented the food perfectly.

Overall, a fantastic experience that I’d happily repeat. Highly recommended!

Absolutely the best restaurant in Catania! From the appetizers and the house wine to the homemade dessert, everything is perfectly prepared and incredibly delicious. The prices are amazing, especially considering the quality. The staff is friendly, attentive, and always helpful. Truly an outstanding dining experience. Highly recommended!

I came here hoping for a good meal and, to be fair, the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience.

I waited a bit for a table, which was acceptable, but once a waiter finally seated me, a woman who seemed to be the owner told me to move to another table. After a brief discussion between them, the waiter apologised and told me to go back to the original table. At that point I was already irritated.

A different waiter then asked what I wanted to drink, not realising I hadn’t even been given a menu. Only after noticing did he bring me one.

The starter arrived and while I was still eating it, another waiter brought out my main course and left it on the table when I said I wasn’t finished. I had to point it out to yet another waiter, who at least apologised, took the dish back to the kitchen, and served it again when I’d finished the starter.

At the end they offered me a free coffee and €2 off the bill to make up for it, but it didn’t change the overall experience.

In summary: excellent food, but the service was a mess from start to finish. I don’t recommend this place, which is a shame because the kitchen clearly knows what it’s doing — the staff and organisation do not.

This restaurant has a lovely garden setting where all the tables are located, creating a really charming atmosphere. It does get quite busy, which is always a good sign! The pasta dishes are outstanding — from the rich, flavorful carbonara to the unique pistachio pasta, everything was absolutely delicious. The horse meat was also a pleasant surprise and very well prepared. On the other hand, the seafood dishes were a bit underwhelming, with rather plain flavors.

The local wine is excellent, the prices are fair, and the overall vibe makes for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended if you’re craving great pasta while in town!

Delicious and affordable italian food. Our waiter Andrea was very attentive, the food was fast, delicious and great quality. Great atmosphere with singers singing on the square and always full terrace. The wait in the line was worth it.

A true gem in Catania !

This restaurant is tucked away at the end of a small alley, opening onto a quiet and charming square. The atmosphere is calm and authentic, and the service is impeccable especially thanks to the older waiter, whose attention to detail makes the experience even more special.

The pistachio-based dishes are exquisite, and we particularly appreciated that the portions are well-balanced: not too heavy, which makes it easy to enjoy antipasti, a main course, and even dessert without feeling overwhelmed. We came here twice during our stay and loved everything we tried: spaghetti alle vongole, garlic spaghetti, pork with cheese and pistachios, and of course the tiramisu. Every single dish was excellent.

We also highly recommend asking for a glass of Sicilian white wine it perfectly complements the meal and is simply delightful. After dinner, don’t miss the short walk to the end of the nearby alley, where you’ll find beautiful artistic murals on the walls, adding an extra charm to the evening.
