First time coming to La Patrona and it did not disappoint. The service was excellent and we got everything we ordered quickly.
We ordered the ceviche to start, and it was really good. The tamales are some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. The al pastor tacos were very tasty as well as their margaritas!

Owner is people friendly and open minded. Service and food is never disappointing. I love the La Patrona Punch made with rum. I would love to try as much on the menu as possible. Everything I had so far has been very satisfying!!

This place was amazing. The guacamole was sooo GOOD! We had chimichangas, burritos, margarita pitchers everything was so good! The fries were also good, the quesabirriawas amazing. So I drove almost 2 hrs from Chicago to Freport to visit this place. So this is what happened. 4 samples of margaritas, I only liked 1. Micheladas were well prepared. Unfortunately the food is not that good. The order of tacos dorados with almost black guacamole. Pollo feliz, the breast had good flavor, unfortunately it was covered with too much cheese sauce, it ruined all the flavor of the chicken. Tampiqueña, it is unfortunate that they do not use a good arranchera, the meat was dry and super tough, beans and rice had no flavor, enchiladas the guajillo sauce was bitter… I complained to the waiter, “who by the way are very kind and attentive” … I told him that the meat was too tough and difficult to eat so I spoke to the kitchen and they cooked me a ribeye steak, 1-5 it was 3. I think the only good thing they have are the sauces, good flavor and spicy. It’s unfortunate that being one of the few Mexican food restaurants in Freeport, they don’t know how to cook. Apparently the owners like their food, but personally, they need a lot to give it a Mexican-style flavor. It’s bad that people like this represent us with Mexican food.

Congratulations to Gustavo and Claudia on a successful two years of business. I am hoping they have many more successful years. They have brought something to Freeport that has been missing for a very long time. Many nice restaurants have come and gone over the years without any new ones coming to life. You can tell the owners of La Patrona are dedicated to creating exceptional food and drink menus while constantly working to deliver stupendous service.
The menu can be a bit intimidating at first, but the servers are going to help you understand what you want to know. Do not be afraid to take your time and ask questions.
If a dish ever comes out wrong, the staff at La Patrona are going to want to fix it and ensure you receive exactly what you are expecting.
To sum it all up: the decor is upscale, but also very homey and cozy, the menu has great variety. The drinks are well balanced, and the staff truly wants to become your friend/family.

I ordered the La Patrona Rice Bowl and it was good! The queso and chips were delicious too. Our server was super sweet. There was even a guy walking around giving out samples of Patron lemonade which was such a nice surprise!

This restaurant is phenomenal. From the food too the owner and the works/servers. They take care of you and always have you laughing. They treat you like a friend instead of a stranger. They make fantastic margaritas and they even decorate them beautifully. We went to eat there and the owner let us try a few odd fruits we’ve never tried and it was just soo much fun. If you have a chance to sit at the bar and hangout with the bartenders and the owner I promise they will give you an amazing experience. Keep doing what you are doing, you all are kind fantastic human beings.

Miriachi Band was live this past Saturday.. this place is hard to beat in Freeport, IL. Two meals and two margaritas for $60 left us full for the night and nights to come. Turned the whole meal into an awkward waiting game
