I just ordered from this place and will never do so again! The food they make is horrible. I had ordered quesadillas de asada, and there was barely any cheese, if any at all. The meat appeared to be an unknown variety; it looked like a mixture of ground beef and pork. Nonetheless, there was not even a lot of meat; it was more onions and peppers. The new owners of this place clearly do not know what to do, or the cooks are just terrible.

Every time I have gone, I’ve had no issues with food quality, portioning or price. When I went during non peak service, the non-kitchen staff was happy to converse and a joy to talk to. Would absolutely recommend, even if, perhaps especially if, you are a fan of either of the two closest restaurants with a similar cuisine, even though I have no complaints about either of them.

First off this is not a bad comment, me and my wife love this place specifically the chicken cheese and rice. However my wife ended up having a piece of metal in her entre. Just be aware and take more care in boxing the food up.

This is my favorite Mexican food restaurant. Everything is always hot, fresh & tasty. I’ve had the taco salad, the nachos(all of them! ), the chicken, and several of the tacos. I usually get it through GrubHub. Have picked it up after ordering online twice. My food is always correct. You get an order of free chips & salsa. Always fresh chips and yummy, not too hot salsa. I’ve got the guacamole as well, homemade & excellent. I highly recommend them to my friends as well. Authentic Mexican food and plenty of it. Affordable prices. Fresh ingredients. Friendly Staff. A winner all around!

Wow!!! It’s like a drive in for Mexican food! Awesome vibe! The staff are amazing people! The food here is great! They are among my top two places for tacos. We tried the lunch chimi, birria tacos, and al pastor. We tried their Horchata as well. We got all this under $40. The wait for our food was next to nothing and they were so helpful. The salsa roja is my favorite. The also make habanero salsa but haven’t had the habaneros in a long time to make it. Their menu is packed with variety and flavor and they are always adding new items! This is great summer spot for the family or a date night with your loved one. It’s all take out or to go where you eat in your car like a sonic, but there are booths and tables out side under the shelter or with umbrellas over top. They even have a drive thru option as well. I recommend this for a good time, great eat, and affordable alternative for wonderful grub.
UPDATE: We come here as a family and it’s still awesome! Worth every cent! Thank you guys for amazing food and smiling faces!

One of the best Taco places around! Man…the tacos here *carnitas especially* are delicious. I ordered extra chips and the young boy gave me so many sauces as a bonus! Family owned, fresh food. The French fries are yummy too! I crave their food. Do yourself a favor and check them out next time you’re driving by

Watered down salsa verde. This picture doesn’t do justice to show how watered down it really was. I asked for grilled chicken and they gave me shredded chicken instead. I’ll probably go back.

Mind blown, so bomb!!! Born and raised in Central California, moved to Knoxville a year ago. We’ve been searching for really good authentic Mexican food for a year, and this awesome hole in the wall DELIVERED! We had asada street tacos and added sour cream and SHREDDED cheese (gtfo with the queso stuff). The corn tortillas were so fresh, you could tell they were handmade. The asada was seasoned to perfection, and the variety of mild, medium, and spicy salsa was great and so tasty! Service was friendly and fast. Should have taken a photo of our food, but we smashed it so fast. Can’t wait to go back!

Great spot with authentic Mexican food! We eat here every Friday night and absolutely love that this has become our tradition. Every single employee at El Ranchero has been professional and kind. A little heads up for anyone that hasn’t been, this is a drive up spot, but there are some outdoor booths and picnic tables you can sit at if you’d like to eat at the location itself. Also, their sister sit-down restaurant is Acapulco on Clinton Highway – the food and service there is equally amazing…and the margaritas are perfect! Big thanks to the owner for bringing such an amazing authentic place to Knoxville! OH AND THEY HAVE FRESH FISH CEVICHE!!!!
