We stayed at the hotel on the same property. We came here twice during our few nights here. I will say that the steaks we had were absolutely amazing and we’re coming from places where we eat. Qualities steaks all the time. It’s probably a little bit pricey for the area, but you are sitting on a lake eating great food. I recommend this place for sure.

We love going to La pampa! The one thing all my non salvadorean friends love and remember about this place is their complementary soup! Obviously besides the tender meat cuts they offer. We always get the parrillada for 2 or 4 people. Depending on the group size, Obviously. I also got the ceviche, it was good. But this one Pampa at the lake, has amazing views. Great for pictures the service personnel is always great
They also have a kaiser walking around that approaches you and taps your leg asking for food haha im sure some of you all wouldn’t like that, but I personally found it funny haha. I added a Pic of him for reference haha. Anyway, I recommend it, specially if its your first time at the coatepeque Lake 🙂

I was recommended to stop at this restaurant on my way to Lago de Coatepeque, and I’m glad I followed the advice. La Pampa Restaurant is the perfect spot to chill and have a good lunch. The restaurant sits on a hill with magnificent views of the lake Coatepeque and surroundings. There’s plenty of free parking on the property’s land, but when my partner and I arrived on Sunday around 1:30 p.m., most spaces were already taken. The entire site looked very nice and well maintained. The restaurant building is new and beautifully designed inside. There’s a little souvenir shop with local goods right next to the hostess table at the entrance. The restaurant has a large indoor dining area and a two-level outdoor terrace (the upper level with tables for dining, and the lower level just for hanging out and taking pictures). Luckily, we were seated right away and even got to choose a table on the edge outside with wonderful views. Most outdoor tables are covered with shade sails, which helped protect us from the strong afternoon sun and made it comfortable to sit outside. The big downside of seating outside was a couple of nasty-looking, smelly street dogs wandering around and begging for food, and for some reason the restaurant staff didn’t bother to remove them. Another major thing I noticed and would definitely change is the outdoor setup: cheap white plastic tables and chairs, very basic ugly white plates, and the cheapest silverware. All of this really ruins the restaurant’s overall aesthetic!
All the employees were nice and friendly, but unfortunately none of them spoke English, so we had to use Google Translate to place our order. The menu our waiter gave us was only in Spanish, but again Google Translate was a lifesaver! By the way, the restaurant has free Wi-Fi, but the connection was weak on the terrace.
The menu focuses mostly on Argentinian food and offers a nice variety of dishes. My partner and I decided to share a few items: Beef Empanadas (Empanadas Argentinas), Shrimp Cocktail (Coctel de Camarones), and the Gaucho Grill for 2 (Parrillada Gaucha). The beef empanadas were very tasty. The Shrimp Cocktail was incredibly delicious! The shrimp were super fresh, covered with a sweet and spicy sauce that I absolutely loved. The Gaucho Grill plate was just right for sharing and came with grilled chicken breast, sirloin steak, and Argentine sausages, plus two side dishes of our choice (we went with mashed potatoes and French fries). The chicken and sirloin were delicious and well cooked; I liked the chicken best, while my partner preferred the steak. The sausages, however, were dry and disappointing. The mashed potatoes had a lumpy texture and no flavor, so we barely touched them, but the French fries were very good. For drinks, we both ordered fresh watermelon juice, which was fantastic – extremely flavorful and refreshing!
Price-wise, this is definitely an expensive place, probably the most expensive restaurant I visited in El Salvador during my week-long stay. Some items on the menu (mostly appetizers and soft drinks) felt reasonably priced, including what we ordered: $5 for the excellent watermelon juice, $10 for the delicious Shrimp Cocktail, and $7 for two tasty empanadas all seemed fair. However, all the main meat dishes are quite pricey, starting at $20 and up. Was our $32 Gaucho Grill plate worth this price? Absolutely not! The amount of food wasn’t huge, and some of the flavors weren’t perfect, so the value just wasn’t there. Either way, be prepared for a high bill per person! The restaurant does accept all major credit cards and Apple Pay, which is a plus.
Can I recommend this place? Absolutely!! Even though not all of our food was perfect, I still loved the overall experience. We had a great lunch with magnificent views, and it’s totally worth driving from San Salvador to combine this restaurant with a visit to Lake Coatepeque. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!

Getting here, the views are breathtaking. However, the same cannot be said about the service. We sat ourselves down and the waiter was quick to greet us and we asked for water. We waited 25 min for a cup of water which is an unrealistic wait time for a simple ask. We then waited another 15 min to place our order which I will say, came at a timely manner. The food itself, underwhelming. We ordered the ribeye steak medium rare which arrived mostly red and uncooked. It was only sealed on the outside and not cooked to the medium rare standards. Save yourself the money and do not order their pastas. We tried the gorgonzola pasta and the sauce was extremely salty and cheesy (not the good kind) seemingly tasting like canned sauce poured on top of the noodles and sadly, were left untouched. We had to wave down another server to cook the ribeye a bit more as not once did our server came to check on us to see how our food was. As we ate, there were waiters cleaning tables in front of us and one of them was quite literally filing her nails. We both stared at the waiter, made eye contact, and she continued to file her nails appearing nonchalant about what she was doing. This is both unprofessional and unsanitary. In the end, this visit left us feeling disappointed and robbed of the marketed experience leaving zero chance of us ever coming back. We got a way better service and experience at Pizza Hut last night which is not a “luxury” brand.

The views and the food were top notch! The staff was great and the food came out really good. Definitely give a try to their steak options and give a sip to their complimentary beef broth. Be prepared to spend a wonderful time looking at the lake.

We came in last night at 840pm. And they still sat us. Rafael our server. Made the experience amazing. They had a power outage in the middle of dinner. But that didn’t stop him from making sure our experience continued to be great throughout the night. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful setting, excellent service. The food we had was what I’d have to call average. In the USA we’d refer to this as Red Lobster quality. Not bad, but not above average. The shrimp and chicken were our favorites. The views and service make up for it though!
