Unfortunately, upon arrival, we noticed the building’s A/C was broken and they didn’t actually have our reservation noted down (which we’d intentionally made multiple days in advance).
Sadly, the service left Much to be desired… The server was very flustered even though there were maybe 2 or 3 other tables sat in the whole place. She finally sat our group upstairs, showed us the QR codes on the tables and proceeded to act like we were crazy when we questioned her about ordering AND paying ahead of time through their linked website.
Odd, but OK… I know I would have felt differently if she hadn’t made a point to tell us she was really busy and already had “too much” to do. It made us feel like an imposition.
I will say: the food I had was delicious… I personally gave the food category a 4-star rating because the plantain/cheese empanada and the birria tacos and the guacamole were all phenomenal! I’ll be dreaming about it for weeks, I’m sure!
I’ll close with this: I’m not often one to leave a review for a less than 4 or 5 star experience because I know how Google reviews can impact a business (I’m a small business owner myself), but sometimes honest and constructive feedback leads to positive growth..
Oscar was so helpful in helping us design a menu, was responsive and most importantly provided INCREDIBLE tacos.
We heard from multiple guests about how great the Mexican food was.
Cannot praise Oscar, Jesus, and their team enough!
I guess most days we would get parking in the adjacent street, which is a big plus
Tamales tastes nice , The guacamole is fabulous to taste
Empanada were not done well though
Someone in my group also ordered an empanada, and theirs didn’t come with sauce. When I brought that up, the server told me there was nothing he could do. He said he talked to the kitchen staff and that if I wanted new food, I would have to purchase it again.
I was really looking forward to the food because of the high ratings, the atmosphere was also inviting, although not much interaction between customers and staff. This situation really deters me from coming here again.
The place has a fun, festive ambiance.
The service was on point.
And the food…. it is amazing. My husband got the nachos. All the fresh ingredients we’re cooked to perfection – delicious. I got the slow roasted chicken adorned with roasted peppers and onions. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and every bite was infused with their wonderful marinade. It was the best chicken I ever had! Marvelous!!!
Forget TexMex or CalMex (Fajitas; Over-stuffed flour “tacos”; Black beans; Yellow cheese; Pre-made guacamole; Factory made tortillas/chips).
The food here brings fond memories of my “culture-immersion trips” (not the hop and go tourism). Mexican cooking is simple in many ways, yet complex flavors and freshly prepared.
They make their own corn chips, corn tortillas and sauces.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Tacos… Go Mexican way: corn tortillas, meat of your choice, served with just onions and cilantro garnish, lime on the side.
For lovers of Tacos, go for Tuesday Taco Specials. It’s smorgasbord as much you can consume .
Nachos… it’s very North Mexico where it originated. Homemade chips, flavorful meat of choice, veggies and white cheese. NOT THE COMMON TexMex or CalMex.
Lengua con Salsa Verde: tender well seasoned juicy slices of ox tongue, served with pinto beans and saffron rice…UNIQUELY Mexican.
Palapa Salad: it’s the grand house salad (greens, beets with cactus) married together by a house cilantro sauce.
Service is excellent.
The ambience enhances dining experience.
