Small but cozy restaurant. The food was okay overall — the chicken wings were nicely crispy, and the shrimp tempura and fried chicken pops were tasty. However, the service needs improvement. After the server took our order and brought the food, no one checked on our table for the rest of meal.

Straight-up good Thai soul food with killer chicken rice (Hainan Chicken), friendly vibes, and big bang for your buck. Highly recommend for a casual lunch or dinner when you want something comforting and authentic. I will definitely going back there to try everything on the menu!

Overall enjoyed our visit over to La Moon. This place may seem a little unassuming tucked off the road of a pretty busy street in SE but they are cooking up some delicious food.
Went in on a Thursday evening and it wasn’t too busy. The restaurant isn’t huge but could comfortably seat around 5-8 parties. The service was fine but it’s sort of an order at your table and pay on way out type of deal.
The menu is pretty vast from more classic Thai dishes to some of the more speciality chicken options they have. I went with the Gai Tod chicken and rice which was definitely tasty. To everyone else’s point the rice is quite delicious and packed with a ton of flavor. The chicken was tasty just wish it maybe had a little more sauce to go with. All in all a good dish, just might have tried something else for next time.
Definitely a cool spot to checkout if you’re in the area with some authentic flavors!

A new cute Thai street food place on Powell.
The food was solid.
The garlic chicken was excellent and probably some of the best we’ve had. Yum yum, more please.
The Pad See Ew was good. It didn’t blow us away but we definitely ate it all.
The “spring rolls” were fried… what we would typically call egg rolls. Tasty nonetheless but also not what we expect when we order spring rolls. Ate them all anyways though, no complaints!
The Thai Teas were great but we both thought they were pretty sweet.
The atmosphere is surprisingly inviting and cozy. Not the biggest fan of the loud YouTube music autoplay with the big TV playing it.
Buckle up and check out the bathroom. Someone’s special interest is on display.
The service was perfect for the spot. Efficient and polite.
Pricing was fair. We will be back 🙂

Some of the best Thai food in Oregon, and some of the best I’ve had myself! Love pad see ew and boat noodles, but the Hainan chicken was phenomenal! I always have to eat here when I stop through Portland.

Caught this restaurant out of the corner of my eye as we were driving past, and circled the block to get back to it. A worthwhile stop! My 8-year old kid loved the crispy, light, shrimp tempura and the side salad with dressing. The tasty rice from the Thai-style Khao Man Gai was right up her alley, too. (She doesn’t generally eat chicken but I enjoyed the tender chicken with its amazing sauce.) She originally wanted the beef noodle soup but found it too spicy for her, so I took it over. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful, and the soup is full of noodles, beef chunks, and an assortment of veggies. A wonderful dish.

La Moon Khao man Gai is, without question, among the top three chicken rice (Khao man Gai) restaurants I have experienced in my life. The rice is perfectly seasoned, each grain carrying a delicate yet distinct flavor. The chicken is tender without being mushy, and the fragrant broth is simply delightful. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, making every visit feel personal. I will most certainly return.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our late-night dinner and we will definitely be returning for more. We ordered the beef noodle soup, Khao Man Gai (Hainan-style), crispy garlic chicken, and Thai iced tea. Every dish was flavorful and expertly prepared.
The hostess was exceptionally welcoming, greeting us with a warm, infectious smile. She was fast, efficient, and carried herself with genuine humility, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable.

I’m writing this review as I’m still sitting here in the restaurant. The food was AMAZING. The rice was so flavorful and so light. Soup is a great palate cleanser in between bites and my goodness, their chicken is DIVINE. We got the combo plate with 2 chickens, one fried, the other Hainan. Both chickens were cooked fantastically.
It’s such an underrated place and might I say, way way better than Nongs. I truly hope this places thrives and will be sending, family, friends, and coworkers here.. It is so good!!
Oh yeah, their Thai ice tea is serious! Not watered down bs. You can taste the tea and it’s so good. I’m in love!!
