As a small business owner I know the importance of going above and beyond the call of service for my customers. I wanted to share something that happened today because it really made me stop and think about how important good customer service is and how it can make a positive negative impact on others.
I went to a local spot here in Huntsville to treat myself to a fresh fruit dish with ice cream included. You know — something light, refreshing, and usually made with fresh mangoes. After ordering my dish, I realized the mangoes were frozen solid. Not fresh like how Ive received it in the past. After trying to eat around the frozen mangoes at the top I got to the middle portion of the dish where there would be more mangoes and those were also frozen solid.
I figured mistakes happen, so I went back to the restaurant to politely let them know. Instead of understanding or offering to fix it, the attendant was rude and blamed me for not coming back sooner. She refused to exchange it or make it right — and honestly, it was sadly disappointing.
I share this as a reminder that customer service and matters, let alone being kind and understanding when we are offering a service. As businesses we should always be respectful to our customers and more importantly, stand by what we advertise. A simple “sorry” or a small fix goes a long way.
So Huntsville friends — be mindful of where you spend your money, and let’s keep holding each other accountable for creating positive, honest experiences in our community.

What a gem of a store. The paletas (popsicles) are fantastic. Great selection of flavors from normal to a bit more unique for Americans. Don’t be scared, just try them. They are all fantastic. Some cream based, other fruit juice based. They have normal ice cream options too with toppings.

The ice cream & sorbet was delicious here. We all really enjoyed it. I tried the strawberry sorbet and oh my goodness it was so refreshing. Perfect for a hot day. My daughter ate the bubble gum ice cream and enjoyed it. Not easily seen from Governor’s but it’s right behind the antique store in that shopping center. We walked there from Bandito Burrito, who told us about the place.

best mango sorbet I’ve ever tasted. very unique flavors, all homemade in small batches. six of us had heaping servings (all said “the best ice cream I’ve ever had”)….for about $16.00. and they have the gourmet pops too! say goodbye to long lines at the Bridge Street franchises, this is where you go in Huntsville for ice cream.

This is a wonderful place on a hot summer day or after a great meal next door at El Azteca. My daughter loves the watermelon ice cream, and it appears as if all the ice cream is hand made (I’m not sure how true that is). The staff is super friendly and the prices are cheaper than a gas station.

Today is January 18th, 2024.
I just overheard my wife call four times in a row. The staff member that answered the phone hung up on her three times while she was mid sentence. Upon the fourth call the staff member finally let her ask her question, which was “Do you guys make customized cake?”
The staff member replied: “Nah, we don’t make cake anymore, we only sell Crack.”
I’ll be making sure to share this interaction we had with La Michoacana on every platform possible.

The ice cream was good here. The staff was friendly. The price was very reasonable. They had a good selection. They also had authentic drinks that they scooped out with ladles. I would definitely recommend this place.
