I am beyond disappointed with our experience at La Madeleine at The Forum. What we encountered was not just poor service, it was unacceptable and embarrassing for a brand that presents itself as a French-inspired-bakery-café with an upscale, boutique image.
The restaurant was clearly and dangerously understaffed. The line to order moved at a crawl because the hostess was forced to juggle multiple roles. Once we finally placed our order, the wait for food was excessive, and when it arrived, the quality was inexcusable.
One member of our family, someone who never complains, immediately notified the waiter that his two scrambled eggs were cold. In a shocking and unprofessional response, the waiter put his finger into the eggs to confirm they were cold and then removed the plate. That moment alone demonstrated a complete lack of food-handling standards and training. It also left us questioning whether the food was properly remade or simply reheated and returned.
My daughter’s bacon was raw and completely inedible. The French toast was burned on the side that was intentionally not visible, which felt deceptive. My own French toast was served lukewarm, not hot. When customers order freshly prepared food, they reasonably expect it to be served at the proper temperature. This is a basic standard, not a luxury.
The operational failures did not stop there. The restaurant did not have spoons available, and when my daughter asked at the counter, she was told they were all in the dishwasher. The same excuse was given when we requested knives. The raw sugar container had only two packets left, and there was no staff member available to replenish it or assist us.
To make matters worse, the hallway leading to the restrooms had several trash cans lined up with towels underneath, actively catching water from a roof leak. This was alarming from both a cleanliness and safety standpoint and should never be visible to customers.
Overall, this experience was worse than dining at a budget breakfast chain. For La Madeleine to deliver a dining experience that falls below the standards of IHOP is frankly astonishing. Whether this location is cutting costs by refusing to staff properly, suffering from constant employee turnover, or experiencing severe management failure, the result is the same: customers are paying for a brand promise that is not being delivered.
People go out to eat expecting quality food, basic cleanliness, and competent service. This location failed on every level. Until serious operational and management issues are addressed, I would strongly caution others against dining here.

I have been a customer at La Madeleine since 2018. While I enjoy the cuisine, the turn over in staff Susan in particular who doesn’t seem to know how to treat each customer the same. Here are 2 examples of her rather patronizing and overboard behavior.

1) Shortly after she was hired she did not know how to pay for a customer’s order using their gift card.

I have reloaded and used my gift card to pay for my orders at La Madeleine’s since 2018.

Because Susan remembers that a manager had to come and show her how — she had said to me she was refusing my gift card. This resulted in someone else having to wait on me and complete the transaction accurately.

2) Now whenever I come in she screams across the cafe “thanks for coming in.” She says this even when I am not leaving but only getting up to go to the restroom. She may just be from an old school of thought about African American women her age or a bit younger. I would not call what she is doing “good customer service.” It’s as if she trying to let the entire cafe know you are leaving or getting up to go to the rest room.

This type of ignorant discriminatory screaming at customers across the cafe needs to stop immediately. The more appropriate way to speak to customers is go up to their table if they appear to finish their meal or are still using WiFi or simply enjoying the cafe atmosphere — just say was everything alright and if I don’t see you when you leave have a good day and see you next time.

There is no reason for her spoiling a customer’s experience at Madeleine. When I come any other times alone or with friends when she is not working we have a great experience

My husband and I visited the Sunset Valley restaurant in Texas. We were not pleased. The food was OK , no problem there. But the service was not that great. The front counter waited on us right away. I went to go order our food and we were waiting. Nobody was coming up. They had said something. But, still nobody was coming up, finally they got someone to come up and l ordered Caesar salads and they made our salads and it was like we were intruding on their time for them to have to make our salads. So we will not be going back to that restaurant. I was not pleased at the way we were treated . As we were leaving, the workers that i could see were on their phones.

La Madeleine on Preston /Park in Plano has been going from bad to worse in the last few months. Since the renovationwhich has not really made it ..it looks horrible with this wooden separation on top of the counter hiding the staff and what they are doing. it pretends to be a Fast food restaurant now but unfortunately staff is not qualified for that. they don’t even greet people anymore with “bonjour” which seemed to be an improvement to me – being a French restaurant. Now people don’t greet you at all, including the manager Tyler yesterday who was hiding in the kitchen and never said hello. I am a regular customer and have been for the past 17 years. In the past 7 years I have picked this location for my French club and my students , french speakers and I meet every thursday night. Before we were welcome and people would do their best , now it’s a disaster. Sometimes I have to sit somewhere else because the backroom that is booked for me , has been booked for someone else without any notification. Wine that we order for the group is placed near the stove in the kitchen so it’s served ‘hot’ …I heard a French group had bought it over, what do they think they’re doing . Some managers have been nice like Julia , Jennifer, respectful and polite. Staff like Peggy are very professional but I must admit that this new layout with that wooden barrier which hides the staff and the lack of professionalism of some of them, not greeting customers , the food on lit up panels like in Fast food restaurants and everything I mentioned above is making me want to change location for my club. This is not French anymore…it is a total disaser in terms of setting, decoration, customer service and management . Something needs to be done before people go somewhere else. I am very disappointed.

We arrived at Madeline in Duluth Georgia at 430 to have a nice relaxing dinner early on New Years Eve. We ordered our food and sat at a table near the fireplace. Our food arrived to the table and before we even put our napkins on our lap, the manager comes up to us and quite abruptly said “we are closing in 15 min” The soup was COLD , no coffee, bread tasted stale and the music being played was let’s say not French AT ALL, in fact the only time I heard anything French was in the bathroom. I will never visit this establishment Again, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE

I placed a catering or two days in advance and when I arrived it was not ready, not even in their system. When I DID get it home, there was no bread. Then I get an overdraft message from my bank stating that my large catering order had been billed and deducted twice. I tried to call the restaurant numerous times, no answer. I placed a request online. No response. I called corporate and left a message. No response. I NEVER leave bad reviews. But when you charge me over $300 for a $125 catering package, you will hear from me.

La Madeleine’s location in Rockwall TX. I visit this location quite often. Today was a different experience for me. First in line and stood here for 5 mins before being helped with our order. I asked the cashier is she the only worker taking orders and she replied that they’re short staff. But before she helped us, there was a man whom looked like the manager or the shift supervisor. He stood in the kitchen and glanced at us but no greetings from him. We got our table and the line kept growing longer and longer. The poor woman is working all alone and no help from the manager. She needs a raise and the manager needs a write up and retraining.

Went to the location on MacArthur and ordered a Turkey avocado and bacon. I specifically told Will (a manager) I “DID NOT” want the pesto sauce. I told him I wanted mayonnaise, 3 times and he even repeated it to me. When I got home I got pesto sauce instead of mayo. When I called and spoke to Will, his response was “I’m not the one that made your sandwich”. Instead of offering to make it good he chose to be defensive. After waiting in line for over 15 minutes before placing my order and another 20 minutes after, I noticed that another customer asked for her money back because they also got tired of waiting. Will apologized to her and gave her a $10.00 coupon. All I wanted was my sandwich replaced….. I will never go back again…..
