What a neat and unique place! It’s set up like a small store in the front, and then in the back there’s a cozy restaurant tucked away. At first, you might not expect it, but once you step inside and see (and smell!) the food coming out of the kitchen, you know you’re in for something special.
The wait time was very reasonable about 20 minutes, which is perfectly fine considering everything tasted freshly made. Good food is worth a short wait, and this place definitely delivers on quality.
I ordered the chicken quesadilla and the California burrito, and both were absolutely AMAZING. The quesadilla was packed with flavorful, well-seasoned chicken and perfectly melted cheese, all grilled to a golden crisp. The California burrito was huge and loaded, with every bite bursting with authentic flavor. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and the care that goes into preparing each dish.
The owners spoke pretty good English, which made ordering easy, but honestly, that wouldn’t have mattered either way. Food speaks every language and this food speaks fluent, deep, authentic Mexican cuisine. From the seasoning to the portions to the overall experience, everything felt genuine and homemade.
If you’re looking for real, authentic Mexican food in a hidden-gem type of spot, this is it. Don’t let the storefront fool you. THis place is the real deal.

This review is more a reflection of their grocery store than their restaurant. We ordered some tacos over the phone and when we went to pick them up, we looked around their grocery store and picked up a couple of bags of chips. Unfortunately, when we opened them, the first one was very rancid (we couldn’t even eat one chip) and the second one was slightly rancid (the spiciness helped cloak it a little bit). The tacos were okay but nothing to write home about (California Taco’s, the food truck on Facebook and often in front of the east Menard’s is much better).

The best Mexican food I’ve had outside of Mexico. Even after we moved 100 miles away, we still make sure to stop in here every chance we get! The server knows us and our orders by sight which makes it even more special.

I haven’t tried all the food they serve but wow. This is the best Mexican I’ve had since growing up in San Antonio Texas. The steak chimichanga , beans and rice are authentic and pristine. The pasole brings me back to childhood and all the salsa is freshly made and just terrific all around.The staff is friendly but I’d like to learn more Spanish because it’s difficult to communicate with the language barrier. The only request I have is to get some American flags in the store. They sell tons of products from Mexico and it’s understandable that they don’t have any American products but it will be a great sign of respect if they decide to get some even if it’s only patriotic apparel. My Dad who is from Mexico would agree if he were still alive. Nevertheless definitely eat here. I’d highly recommend a million times over
