A coworker told me about the goodness going down at LaJamaica so I had to check it out! I ordered for my son and I Rasta pasta, jerk chicken , & oxtails & called prior. It was so worth the visit! Felt like I was in mi yard since I’ve been adopted by my Jamaican friends. The food quality was good and fresh & comforting! The portions were plentiful and tasted amazing! You can choose from small or large but either way you’ll be pleased. Don’t forget to wash it down with a good DG Jamaican drink. This fancy face gyal with the strong body will definitely be back! Big up ya self

La Jamaica Authentic Island Food is the real deal! From the first bite, you can taste the authenticity and love in every dish. The jerk chicken was perfectly seasoned — smoky, spicy, and grilled to juicy perfection with just the right balance of heat and flavor.
The oxtails were fall-off-the-bone tender, slow-cooked in a rich, savory gravy that soaked beautifully into the rice. Every bite was deep, comforting, and full of island flavor.
The steamed cabbage was fresh and well-seasoned — not overcooked, just crisp enough to complement the heavier dishes. And the rice tied everything together perfectly.
Beyond the food, the service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt like a true Caribbean kitchen. If you’re craving authentic island flavors done right, this is the spot. I’ll definitely be back!

The dining room is sparse and it’s takeout only. Nice folks, very funny. We had a nice conversation where I learned Mondays were there slow days and they make less food than other days so you may not get the full menu. There was no ox tail, they ran out of Rasta Pasta, and if you want to get the fish, you should order ahead because it’s cooked to order and takes a long time. I asked about a few things and let them know that I liked my food spicy, and asked for half curry chicken and half jerk chicken.
I think the worst of it was not getting what I asked for. They gave me a full order of jerk chicken, didn’t make it spicy, and there was no peas. There was a sweet ketchup based sauce on the chicken and while the sauce was addicting, I didn’t want my chicken bathed in it. There was zero spice even though they said they would make it spicy for me, and I ended up adding peppers to it at home. The drums were juicy, but the other pieces were dry and all of it seemed like it sat in a warmer too long. I think it would have been drier if it wasn’t drowning in that sauce.
The rice and cabbage is some of the best I’ve had at a Jamaican restaurant, and the reason they got the 4th star. And as with any Jamaican restaurant, enough rice to feed you for several meals. The plantains were good. I’ll probably come back again and give the fish a try, annoyed that I didn’t get what I ordered but eh~. It’s not exactly convenient for me, and not being able to eat it in house while it’s fresh and hot is a minus for me.

Wow, I wish I had discovered this place sooner! It would have saved me from a less enjoyable dining experience I had before finding this gem. The service was top-notch, and I couldn’t be happier with the food—it was delicious! I was a bit indecisive between the brown stew and the jerk chicken, but the friendly staff suggested I try half of each, which turned out to be a perfect idea. I also ordered the rasta pasta; while it was a tad overcooked, the flavors were fantastic. My total came to $23 before the tip.
I couldn’t resist coming back on Friday before heading home, but instead of the whole fried snapper, I ended up going for the incredibly delicious and super tender jerk chicken again! Can’t wait to return!

I feel lucky to have found this place. If you have not had a chance to experience island food, today is your lucky day. A hidden gem tucked away in the corner of this plaza, it is a welcome space for good food. Whether you walk up or drive up, you will find that there is ample space for you to drop in and pickup food. The place is not too crowded and service is quick. Plus, there is plenty of free parking nearby.
And The menu? Everything you can think of, served up with love – oxtail, snapper, curry goat along with various styles of chicken: curry chicken, jerk chicken and more, all served up with your choice of rice. Not to be ignored are the vegetarian offerings: veggie patties, rice and peas with cabbage or vegetarian meat substitutes. Of course always with plantain and other sides. For drinks – you have your choice of various island sodas or drinks. And the service- welcoming and accommodative. I would recommend if you have not yet ordered your plate yet, why not head that way today. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

We moved here 5 years ago and found another authentic Jamaica restaurant, which I won’t name because I still think their food is great. I didn’t think it was possible to find another, but let me tell you…. I grew up eating authentic Jamaican food so I know authentic when I taste it. This food was amazing! My mom made THE BEST oxtails ever, but this was as close to hers as you could get. I bought 2 large oxtail dinners and the portion sizes were so abundant, my husband and I ended up sharing one and were full and satisfied. I 100% recommend. And finally…great beef patty and coco bread.

If you love Jamaican cuisine, you’ll love La Jamaica!!! The food and service are great! Though every dish (oxtails, curry & jerk chicken, Rasta Pasta, French Fry Chicken, etc.) I’ve ordered has been freshly made, they are the only Jamaican restaurant in the area that I’ve witnessed bringing out those fresh, delicious, and piping hot beef, chicken, and veggie patties too! You leave with a smile at La Jamaica because they are so pleasant there! We’ll definitely be back soon and highly recommend those with a Jamaican taste bud give them a try!
