Def worth the try. Easier if you speak Spanish and a little pricey for lunch.
We visited because we were told that it was a Dominican restaurant.
However, my wife and I are extremely disappointed.
The only good food was the chicharrón.
They were out of Pargo fish (for me) and grilled chicken breast (for my wife). The server offered tilapia instead of Pargo, but said it would take “about 15 minutes to prepare”.
So, we decided to settle for chivo/goat and pollo guisado/chicken stew since they were already cooked.
We’ll, the chivo was delivered to the table about 10 minutes prior to the stew chicken entree.
That’s my biggest “pet peeve” when at a restaurant they don’t deliver all the entrees at the same time.
As a courtesy to my wife, I didn’t start eating until hers would arrive.
Keep in mind that both meats were already cooked and on display on the steam table. .
Then when my wife’s stew chicken arrived, I had them take my chivo entree and serve me a new warm entree of chivo because it had gotten cold while waiting for my wife’s entree.
Well, the chivo entree was intolerably spicy and the chicken stew didn’t have the Dominican flavors we expected as Dominicans ourselves.
They don’t have sense of urgency.
We even had to ask them to lower the music that was annoyingly loud. It felt we had walked to a discotheque.
Finally, we had ordered food to go including 2 chicken and 2 beef empanadas.
To our surprise all 4 of the empanadas were only beef.
I wish we would’ve NOT gone into that place at all.
If you’re expecting to eat real Dominican flavored food, that is NOT the place to eat.
We had to ask the server twice about our order, and her response was that they were prioritizing the to go orders. So apparently, customers dining in the restaurant are not relevant to them.
I do not recommend this place.
I recently went to Columbia to visit my brother abroad, and this tapped into so many memories. I ordered the:
Stew Chicken
Yellow Rice
Black Beans
Passion Fruit Juice
Flan
Chocolate Banana bread (Bake It So)
All this i paid $35 + Tip (a true steal)
The chicken and beans tasted like the women in my family stewed and roasted over this for hours. The service was so authentic and home like i was visiting a friends house. I honestly almost started crying because it unlocked so many memories.
.
Meals come in grand portions, with FLAVOR! So good. Family oriented folks. Live music on the weekends. Accesible. June 2024
Every penny you spent is worthy.
