Not enough stars. This place is amazing. Family run with young front of house staff. Seafood cocktail was the best I’ve ever eaten. Simmental steak. On research a Swiss cow roaming. Lean and delicious steak knives are not given or needed. The best food and ambience I’ve experienced in years.

We arrive at almost 2130 without reservation and they still manage to serve us.
We had the “specialite maison – cassolette du pecheur” and the “carbonnade flamande” and it was delicious.

We found this out of the way little french restaurant and it was delightful. There is a great seafood cassoulet, and plenty of other wholesome and good salads, starters, etc. We got there a bit late, and the family that ran it basically ate their dinner in the dining room with us. Good ambiance, very nice people that run the place. Serves belgian beers, too.

We enjoyed snails and planche of meats to start, then steak and the house recommended casserole de La mer for for mains. Finished with creme brulee. All courses were excellent and thoroughly recommended.
I’m usually a stickler for researching ahead of arrival and finding the most secluded, locals only, restaurant to dine in ensuring the best anti-tourist, local experience. This time we had some time to spare our calais crossing and decided to visit Dunkirk. This restaurant was highly recommended and featured in the Michelin guide so we gave it a shot. Very happy we did. Excellent food and friendly attentive service. Worth visiting if in town for a short or long visit. We booked online, the experience was quick and painless. Across the street from a retro/speak easy style sports bar where we had international beers beforehand. Good starting location. Both venues have seats in the evening sun.

Absolutely overpriced compared to other places around. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Food is good enough to survive but there’s nothing special about it. The seafood casserole didn’t have any Gambas as indicated in the menu. Burger was just ok. Overpriced is the word.
