Traditional French bakery with rustic wood decor selling fresh-baked breads & sweet treats.

We were happy to find this cozy and pleasant pastry shop. It was a 50 min walk from where we were, but it was worth it to escape the boring and plain touristic options we saw around the hotels around the Loop.
You open the doors and immediatly smell the aromas of good butter and flour.
The staff is friendly and welcoming. We loved the croissants and we ordered a loaf of bread to take back to St Louis, and it tasted great next morning!
The coffee is not the greatest, but it is ok.

This is the real deal French patisserie, staff even speak French in the background. That’s how you know it’s authentic. I ordered an amazing almond croissant, best I’ve had in Chicago. It’s clear they use quality ingredients they’ve put a lot of thought into. Fast service, didn’t wait long to get my order. They had good looking baguettes I wish I could’ve tried, maybe next time. Overall I definitely recommend La Fournette, worth a visit.

It’s the real deal! The owner and employees are French, and will welcome you in with a “bonjour”. Easily the best pastries I’ve had outside of Europe, and I’ve looked long and hard! The baguettes are delicious, too.

I am a local. I love bread more than life, and there is an enormous amount of love in the bread and pastries La Fournette bakes. The baguettes are truly rustic, and craggily. They are deeply scored which creates lovely, beautiful ridges that deepen the flavor. The bite is so satisfyingly crackly, the glutenous gases that release create a crescendo of subtle flavors and textures.
You will be hard-pressed to find a more authentic, consistently high quality French bakery in Chicago. Favorites— Saucisson sandwich, the beignets, and, of course, the croissants.

Today Chicago has very nice sunshine which is rare in 20 days except for the heavy snow and big wind and today I decided to enjoy the sunshine and walk a lot ,so I walked toward downtown and I ran into this very exquisite bakery. It happened to be my list on Google maps ,I heard from other people and just saved it and today I bought almond croissant, which is so delicious and crisp . I love the Store and croissant will definitely come by again.

I bring my family here when they visit overseas, I come here for a couple birthdays and more to come, I order macarons to offer as presents , and I don’t even live in Chicago. As their website says, thank you for providing real ingredients crafted into deliciousness while keeping the prices affordable. If they wanted to, they could’ve made it upscale , they could’ve charged higher and they could’ve opened more locations and run it like a business buisness vs your local neighborhood French bakery but they don’t. God bless you . Hope you read this ❤️

This bakery was phenomenal. You could almost walk past it but please stop on in and get a bite. The chocolate twist was divine so delicious and the almond paste gave it a wonderful flavor. I had a hot panini made with turkey that was divine. The bread was so crunchy and the melted cheese was heaven in the mouth. I sat in silence at how good it was.
