FANTASTIC place! The food was so good. We started with the queso + beef which might be the best appetizer we’ve ever had. The meals were all amazing. We had the best waitress Sara who made the experience phenomenal. 10/10 would recommend.

We have been here several times before when we come to Scottsdale and always had a great time with amazing food but this time was borderline abysmal…we made a reservation for 4 people at 6:30pm on Valentine’s Day & didn’t get seated until a little after 7pm. At one point, the person who appeared to be an owner came out to make a phone call & as he passed by all of the people waiting made comment similar to “Wow look at you all waiting” – as the owner or even manager, it should have been “I apologize for the wait & we will seat you as soon as possible”. Our server was lovely but definitely stressed; she came to the table very promptly and was very apologetic about the wait. We got the queso and the guacamole (both of which I recommend), my dad had the Green Chile Tamale Stuffed Relleno, my son had the Chimichanga, my mum had the Flautas and I had the Shrimp Fajitas (comes with 4 larger shrimps); one of my mums Flautas dropped in the kitchen on the way to the table & she was told another was coming (it never came) and I asked for corn tortillas with the Fajitas, was given flour instead, sent it back for corn ones that ends up being in several pieces when I opened the tinfoil, so I ended up with the flour. I ordered a second margarita but never received it and ensured it wasn’t on the bill. Overall, we were not impressed with the food, it’s changed a lot with the new owner.
Unfortunately, the $125/person Valentine’s Day special they had specifically for the patio section, took precedence over the regular menu customers. The Owner/Manager couldn’t have cared less about those of us inside or the staff inside; it was very clear the planning for the event was extremely poor and the restaurant was understaffed.

FANTASTIC RESTAURANT!!! I love this place. Like actually love this place. The salsa is perfection. It’s got chunks and saltiness. My favorite part of dinner. And everytime we enter Bonnie greets us. She’s a joy absolutely wonderful. She remembers us everytime!!

No longer authentic mexican food. Americanize to a fault. Ate there last Sunday and it was a pathetic experience. Food was not good more like a fast food experience, menu is sad, like an upscale restaurant with very few selections, no al a carte. Food was extremely disappointed like right out of a frozen food dinner. Been going there for years and one could tell right off that the ownership had changed. Just viewing the menu. The web site is still presenting the look of the family own menu and pictures. Should update web site with accurate information.

Ok everyone… all long term customers of this restaurant (I am going on 45 years!) know that after their move from Scottsdale Rd the restaurant suffered greatly! The service always remained 1st class … their food and the best salsa in the valley… not so much . Today it is is an updated and great place to try again!! ( you all know who I am talking to) New partnerships digging through all the original recipes are bringing our favorite place back to life AND the outdoor patio area is becoming as close to perfection ( Az. Vs sun ) as it can be ! No, I am not a partner . I am watching a love of mine being brought back to life and want all those “ you know who you are” patrons to give it another chance . ♀️. Because if it doesn’t work now it will be forever lost..

Very flavorful, delicious food we went there for lunch. I had the machaka . I really think it is the best I’ve had! A nice large serving with rice and beans. Fresh and hot with a large homemade tortilla My bride had the beef chimichangas and says it is one of her favorites We both had the house margarita. Not premade! It hit the spot. We’ve been loyal customers since the early 1990’s when it was on Shea. We were out of town since November, and just made it back to La Fonda last night. This restaurant has TOTALY changed. Different food, wait staff, prices, and menu. There were no “a la carte” options anymore, so we asked if we could still order a la carte items. “Yes, you can”. So we did, but they still charged us the full meal price, just left off the beans and rice. Why didn’t they say “we’ll still charge you for the full meal”? I ended up paying $18 for a $10 bean and cheese burrito. Ridiculous. I do wish them luck, but we will not be going back. Ever. There are MANY better options for Mexican food in the valley.

We have been loyal customers since 2009. We went to the new location last weekend which we usuallu go to once a month and discovered that the restaurant is under new ownership. The new owner visited with us and shared that the former owners were losing money and that they had to cut down the menu items to be profitable. While we were waiting a nearby table of regulars looked at the menu and left as their favorites were no longer available. Unfortunately the service was horrible. The signature salsa tasted different. The Cadillac margaritas were about 3/4 full and tasted off. They wanted to charge us extra for black beans instead of refried. The machaca came out looking like soggy pot roast and the fajitas did not come out after 10 minutes. To the new owners credit they comped our check but we advise all regulars that this is sadly not the La Fonda of the past. RIP La Fonda.

I’m a first-time visitor, and I must say, the staff here is exceptional. To be completely honest, the starter chips didn’t quite impress me; they lacked flavor. The same goes for the Queso Nachos; the queso was rather bland. The Tamale didn’t appeal to my palate, but the cheese enchilada and rolled tacos were absolutely delightful. The guacamole, on the other hand, was bursting with flavor. Overall, I’d certainly return as the menu offers plenty of choices, and the attentive staff make the experience enjoyable.
