A Lafayette institution started by Lee Bob Cox and run now by his daughter, Stephanie. I think it’s Mexican food is great but I go to order fried chicken, which is off the menu item. It’s some of the best in town. This restaurant is a family favorite. Shish Kabob is also very good.

Usually love this place, but we were told the wait would be an hour & a half. We got our number & waited for over an hour. Then a younger gentleman came to us & told us it would be another 45 mins. We said no problem. 15 minutes later he comes out offering a $40-50 gift card because he is now saying he can’t seat us & are too busy. Will never come back to this place, such a shame.

Had the flank steak, rabbit and queso, and the cheesecake. The rabbit appetizer and dessert were great. The flank steak wasn’t very impressive, I believe it was $26. The steak was small, and the sides were minimal. I’m sure there are better options for entrees on the menu, but I won’t be ordering that one again.

Margaritas great!! Never experienced such a rude hostess. Arrived at five with a large party on a graduation weekend. The horrifically rude hostess said she could not accommodate a large party because she already had others: I tried explaining that she could put us in three smaller tables, she just insisted we leave. When I said we were staying, she extended our wait from two to three hours, would not break the party up, and seated multiple smaller parties in front. I am from out of state and never felt so demeaned and belittled by a restaurant hostess in my life. Absolutely horrific. I hope the restaurant had professional development classes in people skill. You never know with whom you are speaking.

I adore La Fonda!! My grandparents, parents, extended family and I have been going here regularly since it opened in the 1950’s. The staff greets you in the way you would hope; as if an old friend has come by for dinner. The atmosphere is an interesting blend of bustling yet relaxed classiness and charm. My favorite dish is the cheese enchiladas! I have the chips, bean dip and salsa that’s served in the beginning, and I order 2-3 cheese enchiladas, à la carte, because the portions are just right. The experience here is just as good as the food, which makes it all worth the wait.

Over-rated Lafayette institution. Cannot make reservations. The wait for the table does not equal to the quality of the food although I do hear the drinks are great. The wait staff is amazing which is why I gave it 2 stars. Ken is so pleasant and Mr. Anderson are amazing. Very pleasant and helpful. They would be the only reason I would go again.
