When we arrived around 12.30pm on a December Friday there was quite a long queue. But the staff were very efficient at regulating it and it was moving fast. I think we had to wait about 15 minutes for the table for two.
The atmosphere inside the restaurant was very cosy and fun.
The food was good. We really enjoyed the Munster Tarte Flampee and the traditional dish of different meats and sausages with sauerkraut.
The weissbeer was great too. Very fresh and cold.
We shared the fondue as 4 people and it was a great appetizer. The potatoes on their own was already really good, but sooooo much better dipped into cheese.
Their Wood-fired tartes flambées are also very very good. We shared 1/2 Mushroom & gratin and 1/2 escargots.
They were the perfect super thin thickness and the escargot has a nice garlic flavour.
Although we had a reservation and arrived 20 minutes early, we were told we still had to wait until our original booking time. That said, the wait was absolutely worth it.
We ordered a half portion of Flammkuchen as an appetizer, followed by Chicken Cordon Bleu and the daily special, braised lamb shank, for our mains. Everything was delicious and very satisfying.
By the time we left, there was already a long line forming outside. Once again, reservations — and punctuality — are essential.
When we left, which was around 7:30pm, the lineup to get a table went all the way out to the street, and every night the lineup was long, visible from afar!
The only cons is that the seating is very tight, and the noise level is high, making it hard to talk. However, that is the typical setting in France, we found it to be even more cramped in Paris.
Great restaurant with great service, highly recommend if you are in Strasbourg.
Special mention to the fignette potatoes – absolutely amazing! Ended with apple strudel for dessert. Generous portions and authentic flavors throughout. Highly recommended!
The restaurant has a great reputation and one of its best advantages is the continuous service until 11 p.m., which is perfect in such a touristic city. However, my experience didn’t fully match the high rating.
We waited in line for almost 40 minutes, and the person managing the entrance showed little empathy. I noticed that he allowed some guests who spoke his language to skip the line, greeting them warmly and letting them in ahead of others who had been waiting for a long time.
Once seated, the dishes were nothing special, and we had to wait around 30 minutes more for the main courses to arrive. Overall, I think the 4.6 rating is a bit overrated for the quality and service offered.
Inside, the vibes were so vibrant and cozy. The waiter chose the perfect table for us so we could be comfortable with our baby without disturbing other guests.
The food and drink were also wonderful. We had boeuf pinot noir bourguignon, tarte flampee champignon, and tarte flampee escargot. It was just right to fill our hungry stomach and warm our cold body.
Overall, a memorable experience to end our day trip in Strasbourg!
The waitress are friendly and very detail in explaining to us what we order and asked if there are ingredient that we do not eat . Pairing of wine is a plus as first time trying out Alsace food , we ordered a few dishes to share and we enjoyed our food very much
Flammekueche , Baeckeoffe , cordon Bleu Munster , and there is a fish dish .
Everything turn out well . Hope you visit this place if visiting strabourg again .
