Back in July, we received a nice email from two “California experts” who were staying in the Hotel DeSoto in Olive Branch while visiting family.

My wife had the taco salad with chicken. I had the burrito with ground beef and chili relleno. We both thought the food was excellent. My wife liked here margarita.

This place has a 4.9 star review on Google. Decided to try somewhere new on a Saturday night. Upon entering we were quickly greeted and seated. Place was clean and there was quite a few people there. The lighting was harsh white led and not inviting. A gentleman came over and asked if we wanted drinks. My wife was a bit indecisive so I quickly said Dos Equis Amber. He quickly left to get my drink not waiting on my wife’s order. Chips and salsa were quickly brought and the chips were thin, crispy and tasty. The salsa was tasteless. I then saw a large cheese shaker full of spices, gave it taste and put some on my chips. They tasted even better. Waiter came back and got my wife’s drink order. She ordered a margarita on the rocks, no salt. It looked good but tasted a bit less than average. Waiter came back and took our order. Pollo Fundido for me and a steak salad with avocado ranch for the Misses. 6 minutes later the waiter is bringing us our food. It looked and tasted like someone spent 5 minutes preparing it. My wife’s salad was on an oval plate. A small bed of lettuce with some strip steak that looked like it was cooked 20 minutes earlier. The menu spoke of cheese and veggies but there were none to be seen. There was also no avocado ranch. The ranch arrived a minute or two later. Looked like quacamole with ranch dressing squirt on it. Not even mixed up. Shouldn’t a salad be in a bowl? My pollo fundido came on an oval cast iron skillet. All I could see were 2 thinly slice chicken breast with a reddish hue. A few spots of cheese pooling here and there. The chicken had no carmelization anywhere upon it. Underneath were some onions, bell peppers and mushrooms that had been throw upon the hot skillet to cook, covered with a thin and now watery (from the vegetables) cheese sauce. Needless to say, the vegetables were not cooked and had no seasoning or flavor. The chicken looked seasoned but tasted like nothing. It was at least tender. My dish also came with rice and beans which also tasted exactly like nothing. When a nicely dressed manager type came over and asked how was everything, my wife gave a very listless “okay”. He smiled and said “thank you!”? I found that to be a rather odd response to okay. Overall, I wish I hadn’t driven the 10 extra miles and would have just eaten at my regular Mexican restaurant just down the street. I will not be going back.

First time here and it’s was great! The food was absolutely delicious I had the birria tacos! The service was amazing and my drink was refilled before it was even half way empty! While the place could have more decor it was very clean and look modern which was nice because it felt different from other Mexican spots. Would absolutely return again! 10/10 on everything!

Tacos Del Mar grilled fish tacos. Classic margaritas with Tajin. Asked for hot sauce….they keep literally everything from Valentina to Tabasco and bright every one for my selection. Happy hour on Sunday 10/10. Ask your name and remember it. And it is clean. Super clean. 9 big screens in the Bar room with every game on. Just sayin.

We visited recently for the first time. It’s very clean and we were greeted immediately. Our server was prompt and gave us excellent service. The margaritas were fresh and so good! The food was the best Mexican we have had in Desoto county! We will be weekly visitors, and I will recommend it to our friends.

The chips were nice and fresh. The guacamole was really good. We had the combo fajitas, the birria tacos and the shrimp cocktail. The fajitas were very good and had lots of meat and plus was they had mushrooms in them. The birria Tacos were good not the best I’ve had but were good. The shrimp cocktail was pretty good and loaded with shrimp. We also had margaritas and a Pina colada margarita are they were also very good. We will definitely be back.

First time visiting, and so glad we did! Birria tacos were amazing! Others in the group had enchiladas and chimichangas, and everyone was very happy with the flavors and presentation. Great friendly service as well. Will be back for sure with friends!

First time eating at the restaurant, as ALL of you know we have lots of Mexican Restaurants in town.
I will have to say, as stepping into the restaurant we were greeted and seated with smiles. Absolutely the most clean restaurant that we have ever been to.
As seated, immediately they brought warm chips and yummy salsa.
Our waiter was On Point!
He took our order, which was brought out promptly as well as refilling warm chips!
Oh! And by the way, they have THE BEST, and I mean that, Margaritas! Yep!!
The food was absolutely Fabulous!!
We will definitely be going again!
