There were many local restaurants and fast-food around the hotel, but we were so disappointed with their food, service and price. Therefore, we ended up using this this hotel restaurant three times.
The food was very fresh and reasonably priced. Some of their menus are a little cheaper and fresher than local restaurants outside the hotel. Highly recommend!
Unfortunately, my last visit was really disappointing. I was seated in an area where the bartenders couldn’t serve me, and as a result, I got almost no service the entire time. It took a long time to get anyone’s attention, which made what’s usually a relaxing time feel frustrating instead.
I still think this is a great bar overall, but I hope management can address the service issue in that section. Regulars like me really appreciate the kind of care Jenmarie and John always give — it would be great if the entire bar offered that same level of attention.
The first impression is always made by the usher and here it would be nice to have someone more empathetic and nice than this lady was.
Luckily, the waitress Alison came to the table, and thanks to her we stayed.
Alison was very nice, she explained everything to us and took very good care of us.
We ordered fish tacos and Queen snapper for dinner. And honestly, all the food was delicious! The fish tacos were much better than the previous night at the restaurant next door (and they were also very good there).
So in the end I give a full 5 stars because the food and our service Alison was perfect. Just improve the usher because the first impression makes a lot. And such an attitude can put off guests.
Every time we come to Puerto Rico, La Cueva Del Mar is a must! The food is consistently incredible — we’ve never had a bad experience.
Tonight, we enjoyed the fish tacos, mofongo, and shrimp with rice… and every bite was absolutely delicious.
Great flavors, great service, and always a great vibe. Highly recommend!
Right now I’m trying to enjoy a piece of bread pudding that it seems to be the driest bread they had in the kitchen as a left over. Their bread pudding used to be delicious but they rotate their chef’s quite often and nothing is standardized with the quantity, quality of food. The tasting of food is disappointing. It seems that the food preparation processes has reached a level of being a just a swallowing experience when you are in need of a food surviving intake for the time being.
Prices when up, food quality, seasoning and preparation and portions went all the way down in all aspects.
As a tourist your options are mostly limited if you don’t know the area or don’t have transportation. Maybe your better option is to go to the bar restaurant. At least prices are not high and they provide a food bite for the moment that is not that bad.
