We have been coming to this restaurant regularly for both date nights and special occasions over the past two years – it has always been our go-to spot for celebrations. Unfortunately, after our experience on Valentine’s Day, we will not be returning.
We ordered the halibut special, the same dish the table next to us had. When their plate arrived, they complained it was dry and overcooked. Our waitress told them to cut into it more, but they still stated it was dry and chose to keep it. When my dish arrived about 10 minutes later, it was also extremely dry and overcooked, so I sent it back.
About 15 minutes later, the dish returned. When I cut into it, the fish was tough and completely raw inside – ice cold to the touch. When I informed the waitress and suggested the chef should see it, she took the plate without saying a word and walked away visibly annoyed. There was no apology, explanation, or follow-up.
At that point, my boyfriend had almost finished his meal. About 10-15 minutes later, she returned to offer him a box for his food and ask if I wanted something else. However, no menu had been offered when my dish was removed, and at that point, we didn’t want to wait any longer. We had planned to order dessert, but due to the situation and lack of service, we asked for the check instead.
Before leaving, we asked to speak with a manager. After waiting about 10 minutes, another staff member approached us – someone we had seen waiting tables throughout the evening – but she did not clarify her role. While apologizing, she repeatedly stated that no one in her section had issues with the fish, which was irrelevant and contradicted what we personally witnessed and what occurred at the table next to us. She continued to minimize the situation by attributing it to holiday busyness and saying “mistakes happen.”
We made it clear this was not about a refund or compensation, and we declined the $50 credit offered for a future visit. Serving raw fish is unacceptable, but even more disappointing was the lack of accountability, communication, and genuine concern. After this experience, we will not be returning – not because we had to send back the same dish twice, but due to the poor handling, lack of professionalism, and feeling dismissed as loyal customers.

La Collina is an absolute gem! From the moment we walked in, the warm ambiance and attentive service made us feel welcome. The pasta was perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and beautifully presented. Every dish tasted authentic and fresh. The staff was knowledgeable and offered excellent wine recommendations. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or special celebration. Highly recommended!

Our second time here — both have been amazing!! Servers are so kind and quick, and the food comes out surprisingly fast. I’ve had the parm and the cacio e Pepe, my party has had the veal twice. Incredible flavors and good portion sizes. The wine I had this time was incredible. Tried tiramisu for the first time and fell in love. Always a very quiet environment, but very peaceful.

Great experience. Our waiter Manuel was awesome, very polite and making jokes the whole night. We got a seat with a view of 76 and Manayunk, it was fantastic. Our meals were great and the dessert was amazing. I was nervous about the valet because my car is really low, but it was no issue. You pull into the lot yourself and the valet runs a smooth, quick system. Bar room is a really cool vibe too. For 2 people with 2 apps, salads, dinners, desserts, coffees, and drinks, it was only a $152 bill, not including tip. I’ve seen people call this place overpriced, but I think the prices were on par for the experience we had. Overall awesome experience, will definitely be back again.
