I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a good atmosphere and quality pupusas. From the start, the service was disappointing—the waitress was inattentive, constantly on her phone, and had a bad attitude even as I was placing my order. To make matters worse, she removed my food and drinks before I was finished, making me feel unwelcome, as if she wanted me to leave. When I asked for the check, she ignored me multiple times, forcing me to repeat myself three times. This level of disrespect is unacceptable, and I will not be returning. Although I would love to say the pupusas were amazing apart from the sauce that tasted like ketchup everything else was great.

This is the worst restaurant experience I’ve had after a year of living in New Orleans.
The business smells like sewage, and strongly.
I still made the mistake of trying the food. It was not fresh and cost 50% more than other Honduran places in the area (Los Catrachos #1), and it made my girlfriend and I sick.
I brought the food back and explained the problem. They told me that they’d refund me for one chicken and plantain plate because too much of the other one was eaten.
The two baleadas I hadn’t even touched were not eligible for refund.
Frustrating, but a small price to pay to find out where NOT to eat.

Food is ok. I felt it was better before. Pupusas were ok. They do serve a lot. Be ready to take home or not finish.

La Cocinita is incredible. Legitimate Honduran food. Start with the Baleadas; the Baleada con toda is only 5$ and comes with just as much food as a chain burrito store, if not more; it also tastes better! Also, great Horchata; sometimes we will stop in and just get a horchata to-go. The “large” horchata is enormous, like a big gulp. Beyond these staples, the beef is incredibly good here, so I would recommend anything on the menu with beef.

I was in the area visiting & decided to try the place for lunch. So glad I did! The arepas & plantains were amazing. The bread pudding was some of the best I’ve had. It’s the cutest little spot too. I will def the back!
