I had the birria de chivo was good but didn’t have the chivo taste. But was good. I took the rest of the caldo to go. The server super friendly and asked if I wanted more tortillas, other places I’ve went never asked me. The fact que son tortillas a mano. Delicioso the best. Yes it’s a small place and don’t always trust the star rating on a place. Try it out you may love or hate it. No es para todos.

A local shop owner mentioned La Chona for a bite to eat while we were in the area.

The food was great, traditional Mexican dishes. We came in for lunch on a Saturday. There was a fair amount of seating available to pick from.

We had the super burrito, a steak quesadilla, and quesabirra. They had a lamb or beef option for the birra, and my husband got one of each. He mentioned it was a lot of meat in each, and that they could have used a bit more cheese.

Limited parking.

First and foremost this is a working class paisa establishment. This is the type of place you come for the food, for the handmade tortillas and birria after a long night out or if you want to bring your jefes on Sunday morning to remind them of the rancho. The birria tacos are amazing, I suggest the borrego and accompany it with a 500ml Coca or Michelada and make sure you tip well. Also be aware if you park in the back of the restaurant you’re going to have a hard time getting out try to park close by on the street.

Menudo is good, waitresses beautiful, parking terrible. I have to ask a car to move so I can get out every time.

The chillaqueles were delicious, and the ladies and gents were so helpful.

I love this place. Real Mexican food. Not watered-down American swill. They make fresh tortillas in the mornings so early mornings are best. Also one of the best quesabirria con consomme I have ever had.

My grandfather loves this place and he’s always invited me here to eat and I can see why! Great food & a great atmosphere. The in house made tortillas are what take the dishes to the next level!!

Have you ever enjoyed your food so much that you wondered why it was empty? I mean I wondered why when entering but it was nothing. I ordered and shared a Molcajete with my mom and the food was delicious, until we were so rudely interrupted by three employees arguing. At first I was like “I get it, I’ve been there”, but this turned into a louder and a less controlled setting. It’s uncomfortable and mood changing when something like this happens at a restaurant and to think that the ones arguing were the employees. SO UNPROFESSIONAL.

I consider 4 stars rating because most often than not the service is not that great, yet their food is always great. I like to go on weekends for “birria de chivo”, basically is goat stew but with no vegetables. La birria taste very good .
