I am so impressed by the food here. The tacos are beyond delicious. The decor also gives the place a cool vibe. Best Mexican food
In Culpepper for sure.

La Chiapaneca has been a staple in Culpeper for several years now and honestly, it’s a decent place to get some good Mexican food. I usually get Burrito Al Pastor and Birria Tacos (which, if you’ve never tried it, you need to), and the quality of the food has been consistent even through the pandemic.

The only reason why this place isn’t a full 5 stars is because in recent years – the price has gone up significantly and the quality of the food has started to become inconsistent. On a few occasions, my burrito tasted “off”, like on one occasion, the Al Pastor was rubbery and didn’t taste as flavorful as it usually does, but it’s not consistent enough where I avoid it altogether.

If you’ve never been here before, I recommend checking it out, but just be aware it’s pricey and you’re going to spend a lot for a family of 4 to dine here with the larger sized meals. I’m not sure if the quality matches the pricing anymore, but it’s still nice to have once in a while for me.

The folks working the kitchen are usually pretty kind. I’ve had a few instances where the young guy they got working seemed snarky, but I’ve had some good interactions with him too.

Really, my favorite part of the place is the seating area. There’s something nice about coming here on a cool night, getting some good food, and just chilling. It’s one of the more unique experiences in this town.

Usually love this place I live out of town so I make it a point to come here when I am in town. But this time I was very disappointed. $60 order which isnt a small order. I had burnt fries and the elote was sad to say the least i never had it from here before but was shocked when I opened it. There was a touch of tajin, mayo or cheese and then it had hot sauce on it thats very different than what I am used to. Papusas were also not the greatest no taste. The tacos were the only decent thing I got. Even thought they went a little light on the meat for the lengua tacos. Hope they arent loosing there touch.

We drive one hour to Culpeper just to enjoy a mix of tacos. We order tacos Al Pastor, de lengua and birria. Classic and casual atmosphere. Excellent customer service, very clean and plenty or parking.

We heard about La Chiapaneca from a friend and decided to drive out to their food truck today. Our first impression was that it was super cute and the outdoor seating was full of personality. We like to try the birria tacos everywhere we go that has them on the menu; and these did not disappoint! We also ordered bean and cheese pupusa‘s, queso and chips, flan, and a pina fresca. Everything was amazingly fresh, flavorful, and delicious.

Embracing my love for Mexican cuisine, I’ve had the pleasure of savoring dishes from this region and even indulging in authentic Mexican meals prepared by friends. However, my wife, who grew up in California, insists that the true essence of Mexican food is best experienced on the West Coast. While I’ve yet to make that journey, I’ve come to rely on her discerning taste to gauge the authenticity of Mexican flavors.

Having sampled Mexican dishes in our local area, including those crafted by genuine Mexican cooks, the consensus is that the flavors, while enjoyable, tend to lean towards an Americanized adaptation. While the food is undeniably good and caters well to American tastes, it falls short of capturing the distinctive and robust flavors characteristic of authentic Mexican cuisine.

Delicious tacos!! Everything we’ve had has been great, but my favorite are the shrimp tacos. Their fried plantains and esquites (grilled corn salad) are our favorite sides. Also really love their agua de frescas – can’t pick a favorite as they’re all wonderful.
This place is really busy during peak dinner times, so you might have to wait a bit but it’s absolute worth it.
There are lots of covered picnic tables to eat at. As it’s a food truck there isn’t a bathroom, but there is a port a john.
