We ordered the Duck Chilaquiles, Mahi-Mahi Fish Tacos, and Tamales (Carne Con Chile and Chicken with Green Chilies), all served with creamy Refried Beans with Cotija Cheese, Spanish Rice, and Side Salad of Fresh Greens with Balsamic Vinaigrette.
The Duck Chilaquiles were the true standout—slow-cooked duck for 3 days with onions, poblanos, beans, and eggs. The Fish Tacos were light, perfectly cooked and flavorful. And the Chicken & Beef Tamales were comforting and delicious. Drinks are also impressive: scratch-made, including lattes, aguas frescas, smoothies and fresh-pressed juices.
They offer both vegan and meat options, including vegan chilaquiles, jackfruit-based dishes, and vegetable-forward tacos. It’s an excellent place for mixed-diet groups.
Fantastic, fast, friendly service and great outdoor seating out front and on a covered back patio. And a great vibe with colorful murals and art.
If you’re searching for fresh, scratch-made Mexican food in Tucson, La Chaitería deserves to be at the top of your list! Creative menu, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, and the Best Chilaquiles in Tucson! Highly recommended!
Definitely will return when I’m in the area again. Cute vibe with all the murals and all staff was very warm and welcoming. My kind of place!
Food: the chips are perfectly crisp and fresh tasting. The salsa is delicious.
Carne con nopalitos was our favorite. I don’t often like nopales because of their texture, but this was really good.
The chilaquiles were also very good, but more of a peppery sauce flavor.
The salsa bar is a great addition.
Drinks: The hibiscus/jamaica agua fresca was the best I’ve had. Instead of just hibiscus it had spices – like ginger, cinnamon, & cardamon maybe.
I liked the turmeric lemonade, but the turmeric was pretty strong- wouldn’t recommend for most unless you are sick or need to kick some inflammation
Service: very friendly. Greeted immediately and the menu was explained along with best selling dishes.
Atmosphere: cute, love the small covered patio outside too with some flower bushes
