Having lived more than 10 years in Mexico City I can tell you these tortas are the real deal. I got the Cubana and my wife the pambazo, and it doesn’t get any closer to what you get in Mexico. Will be coming back for sure.

La Casita Chilanga has by far some of the best Tortas and Aguas Frescas, hands down!
Both locations in Redwood City are amazing, but I like that this location has plenty of room to sit and eat comfortably. I am a huge fan of their Tortas Cubanas. The Torta Cubana comes in a Telera (CDMX style french bread) with pork leg, ham, breaded beef steak, chorizo and hotdog. And I know you thought I was done, but it is all topped with tomato, cheese, lettuce, caramelized onions, avocado, pickled jalapeños, mayonnaise and chipotle sauce. I know it’s a mouthful, but trust me when I say it’s a unique experience. I would say one of these tortas will suffice, but I share mine. It’s massive, a great price and does not disappoint. Even if the torta cubana doesn’t sound like your type, there are many other tortas and a variety of other delicious dishes available.
My favorite drinks are their Aguas Frescas and their Cokes (glass bottle). My favorite agua fresca is the Horchata, but I have also tried and enjoyed their Agua de Tamarindo and Jamaica. Both are very refreshing.
It’s a place you must visit when in Redwood City! You will not regret it.
Attentive and prompt staff. Plenty of space to sit. Parking and bathrooms are limited.

I am dessapointed how this place can make a simple request. I wanted to try a torta with no Chipotle aoli, just mayonnaise and they refused to do it.when the base for the bolillos is mayonnaise, and they told me that they don’t have mayonnaise in the house. I will never come back.I don’t recomend this place.

Foods is ok the place is over rated, over priced even the online order doesn’t make sense says it gives you 15 percent off but charges 2.50 for using the online pickup order to top it off chips are 2.50 lol tacos kinda suck better places out there.

Absolutely phenomenal! The horchata is delicious and goes right alongside my al pastor super burrito. That thing is bigger than my head there’s no way I can finish it all in one sitting! I have been wanting Mexican for a long time and this really did the job and hit the spot!

All the tortas are good here. If you aren’t sure which one to get AND you’re hungry. You cant go wrong with a torta Cubana.

This is my solid go to for lunchtime Mexican food. It’s great on the weekends too. The owner is Jose from La Cocina de La Abuela and he brought the menu over to La Casita Chilanga.

I am a regular at this place. It has never disappoint during any of my visits. If you have no clue what to get, do not leave without trying El Chavo del Ocho.

When we walked in, the restaurant was empty at 11:00 am. We sat ourselves. Our sever was great with us. The food is authentic and delicious. What I did not like was that a group of 4 walked in and sat them self down at a table for 6, and our server asked them to move to a table of 4. One of the gentlemen told them that they would like to stay at that table for room space. The server told them no that they either sat at the table of 4 or they could leave. The restaurant was empty. I did not see a need to have customers move. I felt that was wrong.

Really missed the old La Cocina de la Abuela
menu and this recreated the same great fish and shrimp tacos we’ve been craving!
