WE LOVE THIS PLACE! We drive an hr to get here, and it’s well worth it!!! Amazing food and staff. We come hungry and leave happy. Our drinks were never empty, the service was top notch. FRESH HOMEMADE CHIPS! The salsa was soooo good and spicy! BEST in Iowa 100%. HORCHATA FRESH MADE DAILY!

In town visiting some friends, decided to hit up La Cantina for a good dinner out together. So happy they recommended this place. All of our food was delicious! I picked the fajitas and they were phenomenal! My husband picked Al pastor tacos and raved about them.
Their drinks are delicious and made with a great pour. Our customer service was top notch, our server was the sweetest, I wish I would have caught her name. Very helpful and welcoming! No one had a single thing wrong with their food, it all was hot, delicous and seasoned/flavored perfectly. Plus the atmosphere was family friendly, clean and bright. Nice outdoor patio and easy large parking lot.

This was a very unfortunate dinner choice for us. I’ll start with the pros (there aren’t too many). Our waiters were very nice, the chips were good, and the bathrooms were clean. That ends the pros.
Cons: Our wait was 40 minutes, on a Friday night with few people in the restaurant. I tried to hold out hope that the long wait just meant our food would be very good. Boy I was wrong. My carnitas were not very flavorful, and a little tough. The refried beans looked like they had been sitting for at least 10 minutes. My brother got the shrimp tacos which were not only not good, but according to him, were actively bad. Someone else in my group ordered the burger, and I know you cannot expect high quality burgers – it’s a Mexican place – but it was impressively bad. No dressings aside from one slice of cheese. I so wish I had gotten a photo of the cheese, because it genuinely looked disgusting. If you ever read the diary of a wimpy kid books, you remember “the cheese touch.” Which was an affliction someone would gain via touching a slice of cheese that had been on the sidewalk for two years. I believe that this horrid cheese was based on that burger. It was gross. And on top of all that, the restaurant had betta fish in small containers at the start. That is completely unacceptable. Betta fish need a 3 gallon tank minimum, not a 2 cup plastic cup. One of them was already dead, and the other three looked in bad condition. Bad food at a restaurant is one thing, but keeping animals in such horrid conditions is another level of bad. If I could take this even further down in stars I would. Do better.

Showed up to a dinner rush on mother’s day needing some sides To-Go. Not only did they get it done quickly, but they were nice enough to give them for free even though I was more than willing to pay. My mom and grandma much appreciated it. Food was very good. Thank you! I will be back to return the generosity!

The food was very very good. Service could have been a bit better although it wasn’t bad. We waited about 20 minutes to give our order and another 20 to receive it. When we arrived it wasn’t that busy so that was a bit of a head scratcher. By the time we left there was a significant line of folks waiting to be seated.
We will be back though, the food was worth it.

Ordered lunch to go. Food was cold. My chimichangas were soggy. No guacamole as far as I could tell. My boyfriend’s rice tasted like Vicksburg vapo rub. Both of us got sick within an hour.

If you are a fan of Mole sauce, like I am, you will love stopping here!! They have a 3 enchilada dinner (beef or chicken)with mole sauce, and it is exvellent!! Their guacamole is great, too!! Love this place! They have Jarritos soda, too. Mango or strawberry flavors.
