An absolutely delightful dining experience at La Cantina! We started with the gourmet chips served with five unique salsas—each one better than the last—and a creamy, perfectly seasoned guacamole. The Mexican sangria was fabulous, with a refreshing blend of red wine, limeade, and tequila that kept the good vibes flowing.
For the main course, the rich short rib paired with local vegetables and a luscious green sauce was exceptional—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. To finish, a tamarind popsicle was the perfect sweet and tangy treat.
Our waiter, Leonardo, provided attentive, friendly service throughout, and the beautiful patio setting overlooking Salum made the meal even more memorable. Highly recommend this spot for an authentic and elevated Mexican meal!

La Cantina was one of the best restaurants we ate at this trip. We kind of bombed on the appetizers since we weren’t really fans of the Caribbean ceviche and the queso wasn’t melted enough to pull. However, the black mole chicken was great, the green mole short ribs were good, the lamb Birria tacos were stellar, and the tres leches cake my boyfriend and I both agreed was one of the best we’ve ever had… And we eat a lot of tres leches. Additionally our server was great, I really wish I could remember his name. Overall, a bit overpriced (expected at a resort restaurant) but a positive experience and worthwhile restaurant to stop and try.

Ambiance was romantic,
and relaxing. We sat outside, down on the sand, behind the twinkling lights. We enjoyed chips with multiple salsas, chicken tortilla soup, and
Chicken Shrimp Fajitas. All exceptionally delicious, wonderful flavors and perfect portions, especially for the price. Definitely check La Cantina if in Vidanta Riviera Maya!

Definitely see why this is one of the best restaurants in Riviera Maya, the food and service were phenomenal.
A small piece of note, if you are not staying at the Vidanta resort, it can be a bit of a hassle to get through the resort gate and to the restaurant.

This restaurant has spectacular views and a great atmosphere. They play music videos on the screens and the decor is very traditional indigenous Mexican. Their menu is loaded with many southern Mexican cuisine. They first serve chips with flavorful chips – red, regular, greens and brown/ blackish that has flavors of amazing mole (Chile poblanos) My absolute favorite was their Oaxcanc guacamole with toasted seasoned crickets that helps make the guacamole! (Can have these with chips or tortillas – I prefer flour tortillas to make tacos). Their lobster tacos are also very good. The chorizo fondue is very good as well. The service is very good, super friendly people. The prices are not too high. We went there 3 times in 1 week.

Beautiful restaurant with yummy food and attentive service. We were able to make a reservation on OpenTable even though we weren’t staying at the resort.
However, the restaurant did not want to help us (party of 12) to get a taxi so we could leave, so we walked.

One of my favorite places at Vidanta. My mom has a peanut allergy and they went above and beyond to make sure there was no cross contamination. Love this place! I got the chicken flautas and they were delicious as always!

Great place because it’s air conditioning but the only thing I can say is that the help needs more training and the fajita dish needs better vegetables because you have to cut up the vegetables because they are really not cooked completely. They need to add some pepper and some other things to the fajitas. The chicken was very good if they just change the vegetables up and use some better ingredients the fajitas would be really good the food was mediocre but it was not as good as some of the other restaurants that we ate at. The waiter that helped us was not very helpful and he didn’t check on us very often. At the end of the meal I had to run down another employee in order to get the bill paid.

Nice atmosphere and good, unique food and drink. Seafood and Guacamole are great, including Ceviche, Lobster Tacos and 8 Hands (grilled pulpo).
Staff is friendly and helpful. Menu is pretty varied.
A good place to put on your restaurant list.
