We love this place. Authentic Mexican food. My husband and I stop here every time on our way home from Door County. The margarita that we split is perfect…not too sweet. I get Mexican tacos with pork, cilantro and red onion. The chips are fresh and the salsa and sauces very tasty. The service is excellent. Can’t wait to go again!

We have a few decent Mexican restaurants here in Oshkosh, but I’m my humble opinion, La Cabaña pulls ahead to an easy best. Homemade, fresh chips (hot out of the fryer), bean dip, and salsa. Salsa is flavorful and zesty – not too thick, but not water-thin runny, either. Really, just a nice consistency and lots of tomato flavor bursting with hints/chunks of garlic, cilantro, onion and other flavors. My chosen entree (this was my first visit) was a burrito covered in white sauce. (I forget the name, but it starts with a “p” and it’s pictured on the burrito page in the menu). It was stuffed with a well-seasoned mixture of carne (pork, steak, and shredded chicken, if I recall) that tasted like it was slow roasted for days. Juicy, flavorful, fall-off-the-bone… Imagine your mom’s best pot roast – the one she slow cooked in a crock-pot for 18 hours whose smell filled up the house and made the entire neighborhood salivate. Okay, now shred it, wrap it in a huge tortilla, and smother it in some kind of creamy white cheese sauce. That’s kind of the essence of the burrito I had. I couldn’t finish it – and I almost never take leftovers. Barely got to taste the rice and beans (but also very delicious). Very good, balanced horchata, too.The waiter was incredibly hospitable and accommodating; I never had a feeling of being rushed or unappreciated.

I have family in town, and we usually patronize a competitor because they are closer to our respective houses. I just happened to be on the big-box side of town today (La Cabaña is definitely NOT big box, though), so I stopped in. We are making our next lunch date at La Cabaña, and so should you! This place is a GEM!

Very clean and excellent service . . much better than other Mexican restaurants in Oshkosh. They have the best salsa AND bean dip in town. They also have a very inexpensive lunch menu. . . can’t beat the chicken fajitas!

Many problems with the dishes. Improper food prep in multiple ways. Unoriginal dishes all across the board. Quality does not match the price. Check out the gang affiliated graffiti in plain sight on the building next door to the parking lot. Upon research, the tagging belongs to an extremely violent gang. Although this may not be related to the new restaurant it doesn’t reflect well upon it, considering there has been very little gang affiliated graffiti in and around the city of Oshkosh in the last decade. On a more positive note, servers and managers were polite and took responsibility for the negative dining experience.

Proper food preparation is a major issue, when it comes down to it. Lack of attentive food preparation can pose health issues for you and your family. If you have ever worked in a food service setting, you know that proper preparation is just as important if not more important than plating, serving, and even the atmosphere of the restaurant itself.

We eat here everytime we come up here and it’s great everytime! We really like the bean dip. The Molcajetes bowls are delish nd a single order was plenty for my husband and I to share! The service is spot on everytime, we don’t have to search out a server for a refill. I highly recommend trying this place!
