La Botana Restaurant Review – Chamblee, Atlanta, GA [First …
Reviews
There’s a reason La Botana has such a high rating on Google Maps. I can and will name more than a few, and the number one reason is, quite simply: it’s fantastic, from the food to the ambience to the service, and everything in between.
Tex Mex is a very particular kind of cuisine. It’s not exactly Mexican food and it’s certainly not traditional American food. It’s a hybrid of flavors and cultures and traditions that are designed to ultimately equate to one thing: absolute and total deliciousness.
La Botana accomplishes this goal as good or better than any other Tex Mex restaurant in the Atlanta area that I am aware of.
And the prices are so reasonable! You get what you pay for, and then some.
The salsa is so good I could drink it. But I don’t drink it, because I eat it with delicious corn chips instead! Both of which are bottomless and “gratis” – free.
La Botana translates to “the appetizer” or “the bite.” But this place is way more than an appetizer or a small bite. If you will please pardon my bad pun, it is “the whole enchilada.”
It really does offer something for everyone and the staff are so friendly and dedicated to their customers and to the business.
It is the definition of a family restaurant. Not only because it can make everyone in the family feel appreciated, cared for, satisfied, and of course, full, but also because it has been owned and operated by the same local family for 28 years.
Brothers Hector and Jose run La Botana today with dedication to their craft, their customers, and their cuisine. They display love for what they do that you will feel as soon as you sit down in the restaurant, feel yourself welcomed like family, and take a bite – “una botana” – of the amazing, fresh, and delicious cuisine that this restaurant serves up every day.
And the entire staff, like my server this evening, Carmen, echoes the family values and dedication of “los dueños,” the owners. When you’re here, the entire crew will treat you like an “hermano,” a sibling.
Be sure to make your way to La Botana as soon as you can. You, your friends, your family, and your stomach will be thrilled! Your wallet will be happy as well.
Let’s start with the pros:
The tacos were made with a physical manifestation of love! The salsa verde could be a drink.. just give me a straw because it’s that good! They weren’t stingy with the meat in the tacos at all! I was able to turn it into 4 tacos because of how much Carne asada I had! Basic Mexican rice, good. My husband ordered chicken nachos with taquitoa and a tamales which was sooo good … and that’s coming from someone who hates tamales
The restaurant has a very home like feel as well. The owner treated everyone like family and made sure everyone was satisfied. I pray this establishment continues to prosper in Jesus’s name
I recommend this restaurant 10/10!!
I got the Botana dip and it was really tasty
I was in the mood for a burrito so they were able to customize exactly what I wanted in my burrito
I got a burrito with grilled chicken, grilled onions, bell peppers, and jalapeños and it was delicious
I will definitely be back, my favorite Mexican in the area for sure!!
My combo #18 (1 chalupa, 1 Chloe relleno, and 1 enchilada) was amazing. I got it smothered with shrimp which was $3.50 more but totally worth it. Shrimp were perfectly cooked, queso drowning everything was great, beans were good too. Chips & salsa were standard but good.
Staff were having fun while working and they had appropriate music playing.
Definitely will return when I come through ATL again.

I had not been here to eat in more than 10 years and it was wonderful.
I actually live nearby and now I understand why the parking lot is full all the time.
Service was friendly and excellent.
The food was fresh and good
We were on the patio and the music was a little too loud for my taste. It was hard to carry on a conversation but I wouldn’t let that stop you from going there to eat.
And they even have some healthier options which they did not have the last time I was there. My friend ordered a soup that she couldn’t stop raving over.
“I stumbled upon this gem of a Mexican restaurant and I’m so glad I did! The corn and birria tacos were out of this world – bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. And can we talk about how clean the bathroom was? A rare find indeed! 10/10 would recommend for delicious food and impeccable cleanliness. Will definitely be coming back for more! #TacoHeaven #CleanBathroom #FiveStars”
