We had a really lovely meal here. The food was very tasty and the place had a nice feel about it. Owners were excellent and attentive. We will definitely be back again. I would highly recommend trying the food.

I’m genuinely confused at all the wonderful reviews this place has.
The restaurant itself looks very cute which is what originally drew us in and the service was polite (although I could hear the waiters complaining rather loudly to one another about a particular customer they’d had) but as for the food… most of it was basically an overpriced, frozen pre-packaged meal. Aunt Bessie potatoes, the cheapest microwave rice imaginable and tasteless veg.
The only thing that had actually been ‘cooked’ was the steak, which was cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested, although lacked in any seasoning. We had to add salt and pepper to everything.
As for the menu, based on reading reviews and restaurant name, we expected it to be authentic French food, however, I think the only French thing on the menu was the French onion soup, which came out with clearly cheap white french stick bread bought from a supermarket. The rest of the menu was a red flag from the start, with options ranging from Mexican, American, Italian, Indian and British.
I’ve always wondered why this place doesn’t come up in any Google searches or why no one’s ever mentioned/recommended it to me and now I see why. I think the only reason it survives is because it appeared to be packed with regular OAP’s who wanted simple meat and veg with no real flavour.

It was nice. The vegetables were a little soft for my taste but the meat, sauce and wine were lovely. If you’re very adventurous with your palate then I’d probably give this place a miss, if you want a nice twist on tradition then give it a go.

Lamb was nice but potatoes tasted like aunt Bessie’s. Nothing with chicken available on the menu when we went, which was a bit disappointing and my wine glass tasted really musty, like it had been sat on a shelf for years. Not somewhere I’d visit again, sadly.

Hadn’t been here for over 25 years so was pleased it hasn’t lost its charm. Cosy setting, old style service (attentive but not overly in your face) and very nice food. We both opted for steaks which came perfectly cooked. Won’t wait another 25 years to eat here again!

Everything about this place is perfect. The decor is warm, welcoming and charming. The service is friendly and the food is really tasty and great value for money. My grandparents are regulars and recommended the place and it will now be a definite place to go when I am back in the area on another Somerset visit!

I have always had an excellent experience in this restaurant. The menu is varied, well presented and a joy to eat. The staff have never been less than friendly, but are very busy so do not spend a lot of time with you. Chris the owner when he has time he’ll chat to you. A good selection of wines and beers. I miss this place now living in California.

We love this place, the family have been going for over 30 years! The atmosphere is great, the staff are always so friendly, we really enjoy the food, and everything is very reasonably priced. Will definitely keep going back
