My wife and I dined at this traditional, charming French restaurant and had a great experience. She started with the Pâté de Campagne, which she truly enjoyed, and followed it up with the Coq au Riesling Pie, a big hit. I went with the French onion soup to start, and then had the Magret de Canard, and I thoroughly enjoyed both. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and everything was beautifully presented.

The service was top notch from start to finish, attentive and friendly. One important note: you definitely need to make reservations if you want to dine here, as the place books up quickly. All in all, a wonderful evening with great food and excellent service. We’ll definitely be back.

We came here with our family (5 people) for the holidays and it was truly a special meal. The cocktails were incredible and a very nice selection of options. The server recommended an excellent wine to go with our dinner and the food was outstanding. The please was beautifully decorated. We are already thinking of a time to go back for another delicious meal with excellent wine and cocktails!

Details: My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant prior to the rebranding for 25+ years. The menu has changed as well as the decor, I actually like it better.

We had reservations and arrived for dinner on time and were seated immediately. The owners run the front of house and are extremely personable. It wasn’t crowded and we could choose our seating. We ordered 2 drinks, a martini and a cocktail, both were delicious. My wife ordered the stroganoff and I ordered the sea scallops. There were lots of scallops on the plate along with seasonal vegetables. Everything was perfectly seasoned and prepared. The stroganoff never disappoints; it’s rich and creamy and clearly made from scratch. The rolls were served hot.

We couldn’t decide on the desserts, which one of the owners makes herself. We decided to get 2, a pistachio (mousse) tart and the creme brulee. We finished both – they were as good or better than any bakery. I judge desserts by the creme brulee and this one was a top version. The tart was unique and delicious, it paired well with a cup of coffee.

I highly recommend La Bonne Vie. It’s a high end restaurant and perfect for romantic evenings.

As always, a great experience with this family who has been in business for 30+ years in Herndon. We finally have been looking forward to visiting their updated experience since they shared many nice stories of their life in France. In addition we are happy there’s a nice French restaurant near our home to rekindle our honeymoon. They also have great wine dinners frequently.

As for our meal this evening everything was great. We especially enjoyed the table side Caesar. The owner shared the history behind the Caesar salad as well as steak tar tar. It’s hard to find this kind of authentic experience anywhere. I had an amazing Riesling pie which lived up to my expectations of something unique. My wife loved her steak in a peppercorn sauce. Very tender and flavorful.

Visited recently for the first time on our anniversary and wow, where has this place been? This has the best french food in the area and it’s charming and reasonably priced. We had the scallops and escargot appetizers and the beef tenderloin and beef stroganoff entrees and everything was AMAZING, even the bread and the creme brulee was the best we ever had. I am suspecting everything at this place is delicious – we are going to be regulars until we work our way through every dish on the menu. It is that good.

Had dinner tonight with my two teenage daughters. Owners were very friendly, and obviously proud of their restaurant. I love supporting hard working, skilled people who care about quality! Food was delicious! Pate, escargot, duck breast, filet Au Poivre, crème brûlée were all stand outs!
