What an absolute charming cafe. We went for my birthday and they didn’t disappoint. The French onion soup is amazing, portions are just right, and the price was reasonable. After lunch we got a latte and visited the bakery portion. I highly recommend the macarons and the tart pies. Everything was delicious and even if you don’t go for the cafe portion I recommend stopping in at least for a pastry.

French onion soup was scrumptious, the veggie sandwich had a bit too much spinach (like it was literally bursting out lol)

my mom got the wrong order, she said it was just alright. She ordered a croissant au jam on et fromage, but got le croque monsieur instead. Similar, but not the same.

The bakery section was so cute tho

Moving reviews over from Yelp and this was originally published in 2017:

Pretty dang good Eggs Benedict although the portion came across as small. I suppose they tried to make up for it with a large amount of rosemary potatoes which were also delicious but seemed to detract from the entree.

Hollandaise sauce was a little short of perfect and had a little too much butter in it such that it was on the verge of breaking. Eggs were cooked almost exactly as I ordered. Canadian bacon would have benefited from a little time on the flattop to better develop its flavor. English muffin halves were small and not quite toasted enough. Taken as a whole, it was still in the top quarter of the Eggs Benedicts I’ve been served in the STL area.

Kid 2 ordered a Belgian waffle with fruit and only ate half so I knew something was wrong. I tried it myself to see what was missing. The fruit was good but the waffle was far inferior to what we make at home and a huge disappointment for a restaurant such as this.

Service sucked – no way to sugarcoat that portion of the experience. Based on their price point and their following I expected far better.

This is the cutest pastry shop. When you walk in, they have a ticketing system that really helps them provide timely and quality service (if you go on a slow time they have just directly helped out without a number).

Now their selection is awesome. So many cakes and macaroons. They do have a select few gluten free options, but not sure on the cross contamination.

Overall if you are near by, swing by and get some goodies!

La Bonne Bouchee has been holding it down since 1981, which means people don’t just like her, they are now emotionally attached. This place is part cafe, part smoothie stand, and part bakery. I came for a smoothie (hydration, health, balance) and immediately derailed into sweet and savory snacks. The ricotta and spinach danish thingy ma bob was fantastic, flaky and creamy. Then I grabbed all the cookies, took one bite of each like a civilized raccoon, and felt zero regret. It’s a little chaotic in there but is clearly doing something right because it has outlived trends, diets, and common sense.

Great French bakery and restaurant. We ate on the patio so our dog Archie could come with us. This was the first time we ate on the patio. Everyone including Archie loved it. The bakery was extensive. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Service was fast and the wait staff was polite (thank you, Bella!). My favorite part of my meal was the latte – not too sweet, good size. I ordered eggs benedict. Appealing presentation, tasty, cooked perfectly. After several bites, it got a little too salty for me (but I’m more sensitive to saltiness than many). Potatoes were cooked just right with a prominent rosemary flavor.
The complementary roll wasn’t great and the butter was cold. But I wasn’t expecting to get that anyway so I didn’t mind. I would have liked the overall meal to be a little warmer, but it was still good.
Ordered creme brulee for dessert. It was very sweet, tasty, had a good texture. It was premade though, so the crunchy sugar layer on top wasn’t crunchy as it had absorbed into the custard. Still a good dessert but I missed that made-to-order part.

Visiting from Chicago; had lunch here yesterday. I didn’t catch our server’s name but he was friendly, attentive, & cute my lunch was so flippin good!! I wanted something balanced & filling since I had a 4+ hour drive back home. My friend thought her quiche was decent- lots of veggies. Our other companion enjoyed his chicken sandwich as well. We got some sweet treats to go – I got the almond croissant & the raspberry scone. Very yummy!!

This is my favorite pastry/dessert shop in the St. Louis area. They have a wide variety of desserts, they literally have every type of dessert (macaroons, cake, turnovers, pies, muffins, etc) for every taste bud. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and they are very efficient. They can get very crowded so you have to take a number, but I was served very fast. I highly recommend this establishment for dessert.

Dissapointed. Had neapolitan and it was old tough and doughy not flaky at all. Had thier cappuccino not special at all. Food was avg at best. French bakeries are usually my favorite but this one seems like a knockoff.
Atmosphere was great through and good location.
