If your going to visit a proper diner is NYC make it this one. Service, food and atmosphere were all exactly what you want. 5 stars across the board. Great coffee ☕️.

After an early 7 AM arrival from Vancouver, our first stop in the Big Apple for breakfast was the legendary La Bonbonniere located in the West Village. This spot had been on my list ever since I recognized it as “The City Spoon” from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (seasons 1 & 2 for fellow fans!).
We arrived around 8:45 AM on a Friday morning, and as expected for a classic New York diner, all the tables were full. We snagged seats at the bar, which gave us a front-row view of the incredibly busy staff – taking orders, cooking, and preparing everything with lightning speed. It was exactly the bustling, authentic diner experience I’d hoped for.
We fueled up with a hearty vegetarian omelette (packed with veggies, a big win!), along with tea and coffee, and a classic NYC bagel with cream cheese. It was the perfect, satisfying meal to kick off our New York adventure.

Poor experience, even though I had fond memories of the place a few years back. Service was not friendly, coffee was tasteless and served in a disposable cup. The toasts were cold, potatoes hardly warm, and the sausages tasted weird. The eggs were very well cooked. Definitely not worth the steep price.

This has been on my list for a looooong time. It did not disappoint.
I always love finding what I consider relics of NYC. Places that allow a peak into what this city used to be like. La Bonbonniere shows that these places are still around. New York can still be that way.
I got an amazing spinach tomato feta onion omelette with home fries. Diner food done right. No bells and whistles, just straight up good eating.

A NYC gem that I hope never closes down or changes. Go mid-afternoon for quietness and lovely catch ups with the staff.
The challah french toast is to die for.

Quintessential New York diner experience. I got there early at 7 a.m. and there was ample seating available. The restaurant has nice window scenery of Chelsea and there’s outdoor seating too. Friendly (but not overly-intrusive) servers give you exactly what you want and leave you in peace the rest of the time. Super generous menu that provides lots of options and all the diner classics. Delicious coffee. Had an excellent lox bagel. Nothing negative to say, I imagine it’s looked exactly this way for 20 years and the price probably hasn’t changed all that much since.

Great food all around. Obviously don’t expect anything mind blowing, but you get what you pay for and it’s delicious and worth stopping by if you’re in the area.

The French toast is amazing. Love the atmosphere. Service was excellent. This place is a part of what makes NYC the most amazing city on the planet. Hate to leave in the morning. See you in October.

My family and I went to NYC for a family vacation and we stumbled across La Bonbonniere. We were looking for more like a home cooked breakfast which this place was. The food was great it brought back memories of the old small restaurant that I used to go to in Buffalo for breakfast. The staff was great and friendly they told us how the owner started the business and he’s still there today working . It’s definitely a small place but I prefer that I would definitely go back

La Bonbonniere: A Hidden Gem with a Celebrity Touch
Don’t let the shabby exterior fool you! La Bonbonniere is a charming little diner with a surprisingly delicious menu and a friendly atmosphere. Our waiter, Juan, was incredibly attentive and made us feel welcome from the start.
We enjoyed a hearty breakfast of French toast, burgers, fries, and chili beans, all of which were cooked to perfection. The coffee was strong and flavorful, just the way we like it.
While the diner may not be the most glamorous place in town, it has a certain charm that’s hard to resist. The pictures of celebrities like Ethan Hawke on the walls add a touch of history and intrigue.
If you’re looking for a no-frills, delicious meal in a cozy setting, La Bonbonniere is definitely worth a visit.
