Hands down the best burrito I’ve ever had. We ordered the brisket burrito, margarita, and flan. The burrito was incredible, the brisket was amazing; the tortilla was clearly homemade and the best tortilla I’ve ever had. The salsa was delicious and very unique. The atmosphere inside was so eclectic, cozy, and homey. The owner was so kind to us and unfortunately we found out that we were here on their closing night! Wish we could’ve come back!

10/10 best dining experience I had at a Mexican restaurant in Philly. Michael greeted us and seated us and immediately made us feel at home. We had a beautiful conversation about food and film and travels and culture. We felt so lucky to have had this experience as he opened his heart to us and we felt like family. We could already smell the food walking down the street so we already knew it was going to be amazing. Every dish hit, the texture and layering of flavors and presentation. Everything was so delicious and hearty. We got the fish tacos and brisket enchiladas and enjoyed both very much. Cant wait to be back again and again. Highly recommend for anyone who still hasn’t been to La Bamba and met Michael yet!! Thank you so much Michael!!!

My partner and I stumbled across La Bamba while leaving Bario Neal next door, and were stopped in our tracks by the delicious aroma wafting through the front windows. As we examined the sign, a passerby said “you have to go in – their burritos are incredible, and it’s an experience unlike any I’ve had.” This felt fateful, so we went in, and were ushered by the owner to come sit on the back patio and enjoy the fire. The rest of the experience was magical – we met his sweet cat, Spats, who spends time on the patio, and were greeted with fresh chips and salsa. We both ordered an incredible grapefruit marg (as I’d come to learn, was as delicious and as large as the brisket burrito I ordered) and my partner ordered the mahi mahi tacos. Everything was SO GOOD. The ingredients were fresh, the tortilla was warm and buttery, the rice and beans savory. We finished off with some pecan pie and ice cream and had a wonderful time chatting with Michael throughout. We feel lucky to have found this spot, and are so excited to go back. Cash only, but there is an ATM conveniently located inside. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Michael – one of our best dine-out experiences in a very long time.

One of the most memorable meals I have ever had in Philadelphia and truly what I think Philly is all about. The owner Michael runs the whole shop by himself and chatting with him was easily half of the joy that this place brought me. I think he just has the restaurant open to meet and chat with locals. The spot itself is relatively small but we loved sitting on the back patio hanging with his cat.
Then theres the food and drinks. First and foremost the peach margarita comes in a 32 ounce container and was both delicious and punchy. My wife and I both got the brisket burritos and agreed they were the best we ever had. The brisket and homemade tortillas were easily the stars of the show. We will absolutely be making this spot part of our restaurant rotation and I urge any Queen Village locals to check out this spot for a date night.

I am so lucky to have stumbled across this place!!! Incredibly friendly and generous people working here, especially Michael, the owner! The food is fantastic. Best shrimp taco I’ve had in the city. Thanks for an awesome meal!

This place is a must see and must visit! Especially if you like home cooked Mexican food that is made with love! The owner is kind and personable. He’s ready to tell you about the best dishes he can make for you! The food is delicious and the portions are huge, including drinks.
My only constructive feedback would be about the space. It’s a little small, but it’s cozy! The bathroom is a little cramped and has a few cobwebs, but is alright. Other than that, this restaurant should be on every Mexican food fan’s list to go!

This is a place only deserving of those true of heart. I will not elaborate further.

But yes, the food and atmosphere is top tier. The question remains however, are you worthy?

PS. Cash Only.

Friendly owner/chef who made our platter and burrito to order. We got the shrimp & octopus fajita bucket and the Pibil pork and plantain burrito. Everything was so fresh and perfectly seasoned and cooked — the shrimp and octopus were so tender! The bucket had so many sides, which I hear rotate seasonally. The wraps are made fresh (3x daily!) as well! The burrito wraps were like nothing I’ve had before, so flakey and soft. We will definitely be returning to try their other dishes and juices!!!

In pictures: hand for size. shrimp & octopus fajita bucket w/ cactus, spring garden salad, roasted potato, asparagus, pinto beans, yellow rice, roasted peppers, guacamole, grilled zucchini, string beans, red onions, salsa sides, tortilla wraps, w/ pibil pork plantain burrito

updated 8/17/2021: our order of ahi tacos (only 2 in the order, not mentioned on the menu) & sirloin hash burrito came out a total of $32. That’s roughly $11 per taco if the burrito was about $10. Disappointed that sirloin hash was actually just ground beef. The last time we went to La Bamba a few months ago, menu had prices listed and they were way below what we were charged last night. I can no longer recommend an establishment where there’s no transparency between owner and customer; no quality of food is worth unpleasant surprises

heartbreaking experience here as I was so excited to catch them on a night when they were open and had indoor tables available. we put in our order, then looked to my left to see the table beside me absolutely covered in mouse droppings (photo). my husband said to ignore it, but then the owner came over and attempted to wipe some away with his hand and then didn’t wash his hands before going into the kitchen and prepping our food. we asked for the food to go and paid since we already ordered. unfortunately, we couldn’t bring ourselves to try the food.
