Helena is an attentive, engaging, and knowledgeable server! Service is always fantastic. She recommended delicious dishes from the new menu like the burratina, carne apache, tetela, shishito, elote, and huitlacoche ravioli. Huitlacoche, a delicacy harvested from corn, and the carne apache dishes were my favorites of the night. Highly recommend any of the desserts, especially the meringue and tiramisu. Passion fruit juice was delicious as well. This is my favorite go-to spot! Everything had such a depth of flavor, I forgot to take pictures. The pictures I took don’t do the food justice at all!!

Had a great dinner during Ambler restaurant week. The $45 was more reasonable than some of the other local restaurants and the food/service was great. We had the avocado and crab appetizer from the regular menu because I love it! Two people chose the croquetas…guess they were good because I didn’t even get to try it. I had a corn soup that was delicious. The sauce with the pork cheek main was so well spiced and flavorful. For dessert I had the passion fruit cannoli. I was skeptical since cannoli is often disappointing. These had the perfect amount of crunch and the filling was perfect!!

Authentic, traditional Mexican cuisine. You won’t find Tex Mex here but that’s ok! Everything was flavored beautifully. The chef puts lots of TLC in his food (I heard he’s a Michelin starred chef?). BYOB, including tequila (they have nonalcoholic margarita mix available for purchase). Staff is very attentive, keeping water glasses full and tables cleared. However, I cannot give it 5 stars because we were uncomfortably stuffy and warm — no AC inside restaurant and it was 94 degrees F outside that day. Please don’t let that stop you from trying this wonderful restaurant in downtown Ambler! After growing up here, I love coming back to enjoy the vibrant new life it has!

Service is terrible. Food is okay for fine dining standards.
My wife and I had a terrible experience at La Baja this past weekend. We booked a first seating table for two on a Friday night. Upon arrival, there were approximately 10 Tables for 2 open. We asked the hostess if we could be seated away from the open kitchen. The nice hostess was in the process of accommodating us when she was interrupted by a waitress who insisted that the only available table was right in front of the open kitchen. When I asked for an explanation of why we could not sit away from the kitchen, she could not give me a clear reason. Note: This waitress was NOT the waitress that served us that evening. Makes no sense.
We dined for about 1 hour and as we left, all of the 2 Tops were occupied with couples which means we could have easily dined at one of those. They did not reconfigure the seating for larger parties. Terrible experience.
Summary: Front of House Service is sub-pair. Food is a 6/10 fine dining standards. There are a dozens of better fine dining establishments in the Philadelphia area to choose from. Several better in Ambler. Very disappointed in the experience.

All I can say about my first visit to La Baja on Friday is that it was an exceptional experience! The food was delicious and my server, Helena, was spot on with her culinary suggestions. Started off with the raviolis de aguacate con cangrejo ,rack of lamb with a side of fried mushrooms as the main course and finished it off with poblano Tre Leche for dessert! I will definitely be back!

Just got back from dining at La Baja with a party of 7. Helena took very good care of us every step of the way! I will definitely be recommending this restaurant to friends and family. The menu had some unique different selections and plenty of added on appetizers and entrees. Each meal was delicious and our desserts capped off a great evening! This place is a great addition to Ambler:)

We were able to snag a last minute resy and we’re so glad we did! The food and service were delightful. The dinner was paced perfectly, slow enough that we could enjoy the flavors without feeling rushed but paced enough that we were never left without a dish. The dishes were filled with clever herbs and spices that were a delight. Happy to have a restaurant like this in the suburbs!! The tres leches was delicious!

We had the avocado ravioli and pulpo appetizer. Both were delicious. We heard the portions for entrees were small except the bistec so we ordered the bistec to share along with elote. Really good. However, it took a while for the waitress to bring the check and to check in for dessert she was very nice but spent a significant amount of time socializing with customers. Also she gave me the wrong leftovers. Was very disappointed to open the box today and find poultry instead of steak :(. Service could be improved, especially as they aim to be upscale.
